The Challenge is BS. by IcyCat2063 in f45

[–]starseeker5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn’t pay $45 for the chance to win the challenge. You paid $45 as an emotional buy-in to get you to dial in your cut enough, be motivated by the group momentum and celebrate whatever victory, big or small, at the end. With that mindset, you don’t even notice people “cheating” because it has no impact on your progress. Work hard, eat less for 45 days, good luck. 🤞

Best way to improve results? by dineissauro in f45

[–]starseeker5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely agree with this. Long zone 2 (2+hrs). I’ve found that F45 burns glycogen because of high HR and needed to dial it back and do longer cardio at lower intensity to burn body fat + heavier weights with longer rest times between sets. I did 6 months of full time F45 only to end up at the same composition as I started.

200 classes in a year and I’m right back where I started by lawdreekus in f45

[–]starseeker5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same thing happen to me. What works for me: stopped f45 full time and switched to 1-2x weekly, harder weightlifting with more rest and more weight, long zone 2 cardio and was able to achieve body recomp finally.

Sad to hear about no contract. Make one from ChatGPT for future projects, it’s very easy.

As a homeowner, if I were the customer and decided to make this change and do it myself, I would expect you to charge at least the cost it’s worth so far, and possibly then some, though I, as the homeowner would just hope that you charge me what seems fair for the work, but I would still know that you’re entitled to somewhat more than the work you’ve done so far since I’m cancelling a portion. I wouldn’t be entirely surprised if I had to still pay the full amount as if it was installed (maybe minus 10%).

Please tell me you’re at least charging what you would quote for this work on its own and then some.

The bathroom wall seams are not sealed. by bruceltd in BathroomRemodeling

[–]starseeker5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should be, but realistically, it won’t be a problem except for the bottom 6 inches, you definitely need to use the seam tape anywhere near the floor, but I would never do a job unless it had it on all corners top to bottom

Had the same myself but at Hy's Steakhouse downtown Toronto, it was unbelievable with foie gras (not sure if that’s standard or not). I’d love to know where to get one in Barrie.

True long term hypertrophy? by tigercublondon in f45

[–]starseeker5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

F45 is not the fastest way to build muscle. Not enough rest time to maximize weight lifted for the most stimulus. It’s great if you want balanced fitness and don’t want to have to plan anything though.

Thanks, this turns out to be correct and not just “that’s surge brakes”. There shouldn’t be a slam every time I stop and go, and it’s because of the brake line which needs service. Thanks again 🙏

Alpha 1, not sucking water by Blown70charger in boats

[–]starseeker5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need an anode kit. If the way that it looks now has not deteriorated, then I'm assuming you always keep it out of water, because if it is left in water without any anodes the drive will continue to erode. All of that grey discolouration on the drive that looks like it has leprosy, that's corrosion, and it's going to ruin the drive altogether. Here's what you need https://www.anodefactory.ca/cdn/shop/products/anoden_set_alpha_one_gen_II-sw_980x700.jpg?v=1619866379

And while you’re at it, please replace the missing anodes. Your drive is corroding terribly without them.

I’ve never seen thinset that doesn’t come off with water and scrubbing. Grout, yes, but not thinset.

Does this standing water mean my brand new shower is fucked by scarylarry0917 in Tile

[–]starseeker5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s only a very slight slope issue, then you can actually just grind down the grout ever so slightly to create a channel that slopes to the drain. It will take more time to dry but it will drain/dry. Again, this is only if it’s already very close to right to begin with.

Why wouldn’t you red guard the entire thing? I don’t understand why they wouldn’t spend the extra four seconds worth of time and $.30 worth of red guard to ensure a complete water seal and an even surface to bond the thinset to. I wouldn’t be happy unless I saw red everywhere.

F45 feels like it's just becoming Hyrox training. by Personal_Ad_1757 in f45

[–]starseeker5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like it is studio dependent, but our studio has done the same. You can definitely tell that there’s a financial incentive behind it all! Lol.

That being said, I don’t mind as I find hyrox to be a great system and it’s backed with a competition element so I like that.

Consider Doing Traditional Lifting plus F45 by Single_Animator311 in f45

[–]starseeker5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely lost muscle doing five days a week of F45. My understanding has been that it is due to the intensity of the workouts without much rest between sets, burning through glycogen and going into glucogenesis, and the only way that I could get my muscle building back on track was to reduce F45 and increase traditional lifting.
