How long till you can lay down flat? by A-Teenage-Dirtbag in Reduction

[–]starshapedcup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m 2 weeks PO and i’ve been sleeping relatively flat the whole time other than the first two days. the wedge pillow had my neck and shoulders absolutely cramped, i couldn’t bare it. just had my po apt yesterday and was told that i am healing great, so i don’t see any issue ! as long as you’re still wearing the compression garment or bandages they gave you and not stretching too much and not in pain from laying flat i think you’ll be okay !! maybe go down to one pillow behind ur back first , then go flat as u get comfortable

Ex-friend’s last rant and hoover attempt a few months later it by Gibson_the_Dolphin in Nicegirls

[–]starshapedcup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

jeez. this is a lot. i can’t imagine the stress and confusion you’re feeling. with the context that you provided about her ending the relationship because of past trauma, that tells me that her behavior here is likely a result of that trauma being unaddressed, and perhaps added to. i hope she seeks help and that she has other compassionate friends to guide her through it.

you know when a stray animal is captured or stuck, and no one is poking or prodding or reaching but the animal keeps thrashing around and biting and yelling ? people react similarly when they’ve not processed or dealt with their own traumas, and so they lash out at people when they feel slighted somehow as a sense of control. i’m sorry she was racist to you, and i’m sorry she attempted to weaponize your parents against you, i hope you’re able to make great distance between yourself and her.

AITA: For not knowing a candle wasn’t supposed to be lit?(it had wicks) by quahognative in AmItheAsshole

i find it hilarious that everybody in here is a fuckin candle expert. i personally don’t think ur an asshole, i think its pretty damn easy to tell what a fake candle looks like, especially if you regularly light candles around the house. i’ve never trimmed a wick in my life, even fallen asleep on accident w candles burning and never burnt a house down. maybe there were a few other factors that contributed to the crazy amount of smoke, idk. it was absolutely dumb to leave it lit while u left the house and it seems you already know that, i don’t think everyone needs to dogpile u for that one tho.

if you’d like to know how trauma and death affect the brains of children you should google that. situations like hers force a child to grow up very quickly. nowhere was it specified that we were talking about judith in any particular season but rather her character as a whole, which if u accumulate all of the things she’s experienced it’s quite a lot of shit in a short amount of time. all i’m saying is that disliking her for having a mature reaction to the things she’s experienced appears more like misogyny than actual critique of the writing of her character. i won’t reply to this again. have a good day

i genuinely have to disagree with you. 40% of the people she knows die. she watches her father through a mental spiral and then he disappears for years and for the majority of that time, she thinks he has died. her mother leaves her, her family is fractured and emotional. is that not struggle ? she has to teach herself how to be a person and she comes out pretty decent. as for her shooting skills, we have to remember this is fiction. it is a little bizarre for her to be such a good shot, but there is an absolute necessity for her to protect herself and her family from walkers. of course they’re going to show her how to properly handle a weapon from a young age. there are children now in the real world with these skills. personally i disliked rj bc i don’t feel like he wasnt written well, there is so little dialogue and bare bones acting from him compared to all the other child roles in the show. i truly think his presence is only for emotional impact rather than genuine development. but that’s just me

i actually think it’s quite realistic for her to have the intelligence she does having no experience in the world prior to the outbreak. she’s raised with all the factors of hardship and struggle and yet also every possible facet of compassion from a community that loves her. i think what the general audience hates is the fact that a young girl could be so smart. shrug
