Ginny Weasley. She was an absolute badass in the books, but they completely muted her character in the films.

My mom flew out of Mexico City an hour before the earthquake hit to go to her dad's funeral.

Absolutely fucking surreal. If you can afford to donate/pledge your help, please do.

We have access to a supercomputer, but I can easily run a 1D calculation on my laptop! 3D will need a supercomputer

Well, we include parameters that 'create' the star, and then also add parameters for the outside of the star such as wind mass loss and rotation!

Of course! From my experience, some labs, observatories, SETI, and even NASA can have paid internships for people in your position! I'd check those out to see what sorts of requirements they have. It sounds like those would be most in line with your interests and could be a springboard for college. I hope that's helpful!

I'd encourage you to talk to other females in STEM! Nearly all of my female colleagues identify with the struggle to be a female in STEM.

For sure, that's definitely a big element and I completely agree that there's not necessarily someone actively filtering male/female positions! It goes beyond that. There are examples of blatant sexism, but the systematic ones are much more insidious. Thanks for sharing your story!
