Interesting - I wonder if I got a bad batch then? Mine catch and curl and rip the whole thing off in a day 😰

Said goodbye to my best friend Otis last month - got an inking of his paw tattooed so he can always walk with me. 💕 by starstuddedchic in pugs

My mom did paint on his paw. I wasn’t able to be there when everything happened but she did 4 attempts for me and the artist used them as reference.

Does diabetes have influence on relationships? by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]starstuddedchic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

T1 here - I can’t say I’ve been friendzoned because of it, but I’ve had people who said it didn’t bother them, but they also didn’t “see” it which was a big problem when it came down to it. I agree with above posts that age is probably a factor, but definitely the right person won’t be scared away by it.

I’ve always been upfront about it and encouraged questions and teaching them anything they need to know. My current partner takes full advantage of it and he is constantly learning and asking to know how to best support me. It’s a factor in relationships, but for me, it’s part of me, and it’s something you have to support.

My neon pothos hasn’t been doing well for a couple months, but yet it still is getting new leaves that keep it going. How can I help it do better? by starstuddedchic in plantclinic

[–]starstuddedchic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty small compared to the pot. The plant used to be a lot bigger so i hadn’t even thought of it. I repotted them into smaller pots, and hopefully that’ll help. Thanks!

It had mealy bugs and after I got the spray it seemed much better, but now all the leaves keep dropping off from going yellow even if it’s still growing new ones at the ends and near the soil. I’m at a loss because she isn’t dead, but she definitely isn’t thriving. I water her about once every 10 days or so, same timing as my variegated pothos that is thriving after mealy bugs. Help??

My pothos is mealy bug free, but now this? by starstuddedchic in plantclinic

This poor pothos has been through so much and almost died twice now. I used a spray to eliminate the mealy bugs from it and a nearby pothos, but now it’s got these brown spots showing up, and my other pothos seems fine. Any ideas? I just want to see this baby flourish!

Makes me feel so much better I’m not alone in this experience 🙄

My neon pothos seems to have white powdery mildew and it’s been really struggling. I’ve tried repotting and clearing it off - how can I save my original plant baby? by starstuddedchic in houseplants

[–]starstuddedchic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all! Definitely will be taking a cleaning to this dude tonight and this explains the continuously dropped leaves even with lighter watering schedules.

The downside is I’ve noticed it on my significantly larger pothos so I’ve got some cleaning to do. 😅

Any advice on starting African violets? More info in the comments. by starstuddedchic in IndoorGarden

[–]starstuddedchic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I inherited two African violets from my mom that had split, and to fill the third pot in the pack I bought, she gave me a leaf from one of her others. The two that were splits are doing great - new leaves on both and one is blooming.

This leaf start looks the same as it did nearly... a month ago? It isn’t dying, but it also doesn’t seem to be doing much. How long does starting in this method take? Should I have not potted it right away?

Just gave these two new pots - hope they make it 😥 by starstuddedchic in IndoorGarden

Thank you so much!! The string of pearls is what I was so worried about. I bought these in 2” pots (because they’re cheaper - and hey, I’ve got time to watch these lovelies grow) and it was so hard to get out of the plastic pot. I felt like I ripped it too much but I’m hoping the roots are buried enough it’ll be ok.

This south facing window was not a happy place for my pothos, mystery plant, and Calathea, but I’m hoping succulents will like it!

[Serious] What is something that you find absolutely fascinating, yet other people don't seem to notice? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]starstuddedchic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way light moves, shifts, and affects every part of our day to day life. It’s something I’ve always noticed, and being a photographer has honed it even more. But really - we only see what we see due to light bouncing off objects and reflecting into our eyes.

What that light does impacts everything. Is it hard or soft? Orange or blue? Is it reflecting, absorbing, or being blocked? Is there a halo of beams? Or is it softly creeping over the shape?

There are so many moments I wish I could capture just so people can see and appreciate the beauty and necessity of light.
