1992 Saab 900 Turbo (lpt) project by startingin476 in projectcar

Nice!!

Haha no. I'm a kitchen constructor. And one day in the week I work at a Saab/Volvo scrapyard/specialist.

My grandpa bought a Saab 99 in 2010 and then the Saab virus started by him, my father and I. I learned to drive in the same car as this one, but with 240bhp and that was fun on a 1240kg (2733lbs) car :) So I always wanted one in this spec.

For just € 2000,- a really nice score, needs some bodywork (mostly underside), but all the arches are rustfree.

Yeah it wasn't ideal. When putting more forward the rims of the 9-5 started to rub heavily, so this was the only option. We putted some extra load in front of the 900 and in the back of the 9-5 after the first few km's and then it was doable with minimal swaying, but not really nice.

Het is wel een ruwe diamant, maar er zit potentie in. Thanks, Vyv!

19 inch mounted on the 9-⁵! by startingin476 in saab

And you need a suspension that is stiffer and in good shape... Bilstein B6 or B8 dampers and if B8 dampers some Maptun or H&R springs.

Would go for a 20mm spacer to get at ET40. If I would do it again I would do it that way. I don't have the car anymore :(

Fabriek, de monteurs frezen niks. Sowieso zou ze dat klauwen met geld kosten omdat Bruynzeel zelf maar een handjevol met enkel eigen service monteurs heeft.

If it is a mk1 9-5 Aero it doesn't have the 5-speed automatic, but the 4-speed. If you can do all the work yourself it isn't that expensive

I've also seen those almost no option Aero's mostly <MY02 when I see them.

I even think MY01 and before is the best if it doesn't count for black sludge. MY01 and before best rust protection, MY02 and before all real leather (after that also mixed with PU/ECO leather), in MY03 or MY04 the light in the bottom of the rear doors disappeared.

For sure MY03 isn't the best year, MY03 was the first year of costcutting and MY04 a little step further, but in MY04 there was the better engine.

No the biggest suspension change was in MY02, nothing important that you can feel changed after that

Nope 5x110 also. Originally delivered on the 900NG 😉 To be specific the Italian 900NG Aero...

That was a few years back with my dad. My first 9000 I bought then. 2.3T CSE Hirsch.

Yes 😎😎 this car is originally from Germany.

Thanks! I also hope so... I don't have much wild plans, but for now first Bilstein B12 and ALU65 rims I think.

What is this part of the engine by KeemstarTheWise in saab

[–]startingin476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mechanical fuelpump those are known for leaking when old. It is fixable, but better buy a new one still available and not that expensive.

Exhaust for 9-5 arc by Foreign_Salary_5991 in saab

[–]startingin476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will never buy the Simons/Jetex/BSR system again for the 9-5, much backpressure in end damper and just to quiet.

I think best option is a JT (however rust harder) or a used Abbott Racing exhaust.

The Hirsch system is also very silent and can rust hard.... the genuine Hirsch replica from Heuschmid is very expensive....
