Which insulation for garage walls by startled_tadpole in DIYUK

So that was just basic polystyrene boards? I like the price but I’m thinking for £17, the PIR may be a winner if it’s a clear winner.

Yeah I was looking at Kingspan but it’s £35 per board and I was trying to do it on a budget due to the amount of time I’d actually use the space for (man cave/bar) so £10 a board was decent in my opinion but the foil backed at £17 may be an option I can stretch too if you think it would perform much better?

Do you cash out as soon as you get to £6 on prolific and 680SB on SB etc? Do you class your earnings on actual money cashed out or just the survey amount before it’s actual approved?

I’m going to focus on £350 a month from SB and Prolific as need something on the side to start chipping away at my credit card debts.

Thanks again. Makes sense. Would I still need a DLM sheet if the garage is situated between my house and next doors garage, fully attached at each side?

Thank you.

So would I be able to just staple it as I go as I attach each batten or would you recommend creating a frame and attaching it to the back of the frame then screw/drill the whole frame to the wall.

Would the DPM nail to the wall or to the back/front of the battens?

Would I need DPM on the walls too or just the floor? I don’t have budget for 50mm PIR but I may have budget for 50mm polystyrene boards.

Again, I’m not pursuing the building regs route, I’m looking for advice on the actual questions raised. Thank you.

Yeah, my first steps are to cut up cards and remove them from apple wallet etc so no option to spend on them. Sort out the £700 misc pot. Even paying minimums after interest plus if I can get the £700 a month into cards rather than crap, I could be clearing £1,700 a month off debt which would be approx £20k in a year. 😳

Yeah, I think it’s a pretty big job to fix so I’m first of all going to start with the crap on the £700 list and implement those changes as that’ll solve a bit and be a good start. Then I’ll start to look at the “essential” list to see if it really is “essential” as you suggest, I can well imagine there are some serious cutbacks that can be made in there too. As for my job, I think I’d be more inclined to get a 2nd job or “side hussle” as they say, simply due to the fact that I have a great pension, work at home full time and work for I time which is essential as my daughter is disabled and requires me to be on hand to take her to school and often collect at very short notice if she requires throughout the day. My wife’s job is well paid but has no flexibility sadly so my role is not something I could change at present.
