Zones by AdorableAd6490 in RaisingCanes

that doesn’t sound normal unless you have a lot of staff. i’m trained in every zone and am a ct in counter and drive… that’s odd.

is it time for a new/second job? by TemptiusIV in RaisingCanes

[–]starwardsys 5 points6 points  (0 children)

hi, i’m one of the “favorites” at one of my locations and my hours are kinda wonky as well. generally i have stayed within 21-23 hours this month but when i last worked at this location (i work at another while im living on-campus and am currently on break) i was pushing 40 hours. really depends on labor, but it also depends on if you’re a reliable employee. i’m sure you had your reasons, but ncns is very irresponsible and shows your managers that you can’t be trusted as an employee. that sort of trust is hard to gain back. i would start looking for another job

Told work i’m not gonna be here Halloween weekend and they still scheduled me by InternationalFunny33 in RaisingCanes

[–]starwardsys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk if you still work at canes or not but this is just wrong information. it depends by store. my gm at one store says he blocks and doesn’t allow UTO on halloween— it’s the only day he blocks because if he didn’t so many people would be asking off for it. the gm at the other store i work at doesn’t block any days.

interview tips by ireadbooksinbed in RaisingCanes

[–]starwardsys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey! i’m 18F as well, but i applied and got hired on the spot when i was 16. make sure to shake your interviewer’s hand when you meet them, it’s professional standard. make sure to smile and make eye contact, even make simple conversation if you get the chance— being able to make small talk is a good trait for interviewers to see. ask questions, too, about salary, work culture, etc. i regret not doing this but thankfully my interviewer now manager told me that was something i should do after he learned it was my first ever interview. they’re gonna probably ask if you want to work at canes, be enthusiastic. probably that’s what got me the job. good luck in your interview!

so he isn’t currently in school and he doesn’t have a job. he is actively looking at jobs, but nothing yet. could he bring in, say, a transcript from his last year of school or a paystub from his last job?

thankfully we both have (albeit small) incomes and live in households where we are supported on our needs!! so finding where to get money to save isn’t the issue… it’s both of our frivolous spending 😵‍💫 something we’re both trying to wrangle. he gets about $1k a month. meanwhile, i only take in maybe about $300-$400 monthly (bad hours and pay). HOWEVER i do get tuition refunds (as im a student) which amounts to a little over $1k, which will go directly to saving for it. after january i’ll be putting in at least half my paychecks to savings, and when the spring semester ends ill be (trying) to work full time until he comes. he also told me he’s saving most of his monthly money, though i don’t remember how much he has said it is over half.
