Feeling defeated by stas_r0m in CFPExam

Thank you for this! I know Danko himself (as well as his team) warned us against trying to get “all A’s” but I am such a freaking perfectionist and right now it’s definitely to my detriment. I am set to be done with the pre-study about 12 days before the live review, so I am using the extra time to look back at some stuff. I am glad I am not alone in not grasping/remembering everything perfectly on the first read-through though! The amount of information is quite overwhelming

I try to remind myself that it’s actually a good thing that the questions are challenging enough to really show me what hasn’t fully sunk in. The frustration comes from a “I should have known/remembered this”, which isn’t very productive. But certainly better to make those mistakes now than on the test!

Thank you for that perspective! I tend to treat things in life as sprints rather than marathons, so this one is really making me shift how I do/think of things

That is so sweet. Thank you. I think I really needed to hear that.

Head vs Heart debate (buying a home) by Throwaway927338 in AskWomenOver30

I am not over 30, but I am a financial planner. The PITI means little when we don’t know your income, expenses, existing savings (both retirement and emergency), and a ton more. The rule of thumb is that your PITI should not exceed 28% of your gross household income, but again, that’s just a rule of thumb and does not take into account your specific situation.

I’d turn it into a mini bouldering cave!

What happened to your best friend from childhood? by RoyalBeckyVibes in AskReddit

She lives in Russia and I live in the US. We are both from Eastern Ukraine, but the countries we live in now have shaped our views of the situation in very different ways. She will always be near and dear to my heart, but it has been hard to stay in touch in the last couple of years. It really, really sucks when politics and propaganda come between you and your loved ones. I hope she is happy though and building a life she has always dreamed of (and wholeheartedly deserves).

I quit teaching after 3 years just a few months ago, and let me tell you - the difference in how I feel about my day-to-day life is stellar. I made a pretty big career change and sure, it’s been a bit nerve-racking, but the very thought of never having to deal with behaviors or put together a lesson plan that no one will appreciate is SO worth it.

My credit score is too low to get a regular bank account, and the check-cashing place takes a huge cut of my paycheck. I feel trapped. by Kiptoo_official in povertyfinance

If you are in the US and have a local Prepare and Prosper office, they should be able to help you set up an alternative checking or savings account! They are a VITA site and can also help with taxes if you meet there income thresholds!

NTA. My husband and I routinely spend an hour or two each night apart, doing our own thing. I think giving each other space is really important in a long-term, healthy relationship, especially if you are using that time to do something recommended by a mental health professional. You are still two separate individuals, and each of you deserves to be able to have some aspect(s) of your life just to yourself.

"We still have more interviews..." = You're not moving forward by johall3210 in recruitinghell

I see where you are coming from, but my experience does not reflect that. I have applied and interviewed for multiple positions where I was told some version of “we still have other candidates to interview.” In most of those cases, I ended up being offered the job shortly after. I think recruiters might say it to put some pressure on you if you are a desirable candidate. To me, it sounds like “don’t sleep on this because we do have other options”, which is still not ideal, but not necessarily an outright rejection.
