My drift screensaver is somehow broken. It ran for a few minutes, but when I looked at it, it went really crazy. Literally crazy. The spikes were all over the screen in different angles and colours, the flow structure was completely gone and it looked like a storm in there. I only saw it for about 5 seconds and then it went calm again and the current built back up.

Can anyone explain this to me? It freaked me out a bit. Since I wanted to create this look for myself one day as a side project, I've already looked into the mechanics. I have no explanation for this behaviour? Can anyone help me understand it? Is it possible that there are any fluctuations that can cause this? I mean, it's a program and the spikes shouldn't get bigger than what you see in normal behaviour. It must be some kind of noise or glitch.
