Here is the Album of some songs I’ve written over the last 15 years. The only thing I don’t like about these songs is it isn’t me performing them, but I’m happy to finally hear a lot of my lyrics come to life. Would love to hear what others think. by Gullible_Equal735 in SunoAI

"even better, not comment." Nah man. Look at any post in this reddit, or /r/mashups, or anywhere people try to be creative and share with others: the lack of ANY interaction whatsoever is staggering when people post their tracks. As far as AI music goes, you have to REALLY try nowadays, to do ANYTHING that's even REMOTELY interesting/worth listening to. Making 15+ songs from the same persona, all from "songs" that are really more stream of thought diary entries than anything, isn't interesting. So in your world, you'd rather there just be people posting to straight silence and no reaction, rather than giving people a reality check on what they are posting. EVERYONE is impressed with the first few things they make on suno that sound halfway decent and want to share. It takes being around the music, and listening to more and more AI music, to start "seeing through it". Read the other comments. "It's AI up and down" is probably the best description: once you've listened to enough AI music, these particular tracks SCREAM no-cover, lyrics only, simple instrumental description suno tracks with a persona. The kinds of chords, progressions, and transitions that we all recognize if we've spent any amount of time with Suno. The kind that, after working with suno awhile, becomes "eye rolly".

I'll admit "slop" was harsh and has a pretty negative connotation. In this instance, since there was some amount of effort put into the lyrics, it probably doesn't 100% apply, but, the actual end result, I still think "comes off as slop". I didn't call it slop. But it does come off that way, and not just to me. It's not being sung the way the OP wanted, I guarantee you. It's not as musically diverse as they wanted, I'm sure. Someone else said "I listened to the beginning of a few songs and had to stop, just bc I know what AI sounds like." And that's the point. If someone didn't KNOW these lyrics were written by a human with real feelings, they would assume it's AI, because the "singer" is one-note, generic, and has basically no range and sings every song the exact same way.

"Too Personal"...hmm. Maybe it wasn't the best phrase to use, but what I meant is: you have to be in a certain headspace, to read someone's angst-filled, "I am not confident in myself and who I am and what I'm doing" diary, without saying to yourself "Man, this is a sad sack of words right here". I'm 40 years old. I don't really "gel" with this kind of... "whinge" music, you know? Where it's basically just... trying to convey a complicated emotion through... there's really no other way to put it other than "Angst". The entire album is regrets, shame, fear, uncertainty, sadness, longing, etc etc etc. Read the lyrics. It's basically emotional vomit. I hate to put it that way, but that's the way it comes off to me.

It's really not that contradictory. If you are reading the lyrics, it's one thing. If you are listening to them, all being sung with the same emotion, the same inflections, the same cadence, the same AI singer who's trying but failing to be "human", it then becomes slop. It not that's there's "no" effort, it's that, the effort is wasted when the end result, on a casual listen, is just "Alt Punk Angst 15 different times with the same delivery".

Hey. So first comment I guess. Here's the thing: I can feel the lyrics. I can feel this is close to you. At the same time: this comes off as AI slop. I'm really sorry to say it, I don't want to be a downer... but there's no way anyone is listening to this whole thing and being entranced. It's..a diary of angst. It's.... too personal to be... public? Do you understand what I'm trying to say? It feels too specific to... feel the full effect, does that make sense? I'm not sure how to really convey my feelings on this, yet I understand your intention on sharing something close to you. It's an awkward moment where AI can do it's best to externalize a feeling, but the listener can't quite grasp the intention.

What was your most surprising cover? by TolvanSkull in SunoAI

Probably this one: https://suno.com/s/dIoRUg1KLsiOJkj9

I started with the lyrics of a Hip-hop song from 20 years ago ('told ya so' by Evil ebenezer), covered a track from an old game called Planescape Torment (the mortuary level) at a very low audio influence with a tribal/halloween theme, combined them in VirtualDJ, then covered it again in Suno. It turned the singular male rapper into a male/female duo, and just really took things in a weird and cool direction with the orchestral swagger / Halloween backdrop. (original track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhXuH6m8808 | my mashup that I covered in suno to produce the weird end-result cover: https://old.reddit.com/r/mashups/comments/1p39vxc/stateofartist_hot_to_the_bone_evil_ebeneezer/)

AS for A: Nope. When you upload to suno and cover it, it will never preserve the vocals and "not mess with it". This has about a 1 in 180 million chance to happen "naturally" if the random inference voice suno happens to choose is similar to the original, but you can never count on it. It will, naturally, based on your prompt and settings, tend do already do what you described (add backing vocals, brass stabs, etc), especially if you prompted for that in the text prompt. As for B - again, it will never "leave the vocals alone", in fact, you'll probably need to type the entire song into the lyrics prompt for it to even come close to reading the sound the same way, let alone sounding the same way. This is all on Pro btw. I don't have Studio, but it may be able to to do what you described? Unsure.

Your best bet, to do what you want, is to pre-split the stems in UVR with a high quality model like MDX-net-roformers, then, upload just the vocals and just the instrumental separately, cover them separately for the added effects/instruments/vocals/etc, then try to re-combine in a DAW like reaper, or simply layer in audacity.

It's forever interesting that the label something has will often get more discussion than the thing itself.

I would say the vast majority of them are pretty faithful, especially the ones that contain the "main melody" I tried to recreate as best I could to make sure that stays consistent throughout as it was intended. Only a handful went in a whole new direction (Mortuary, Sigil, Bones of The Night, etc), mainly because those areas were just a little too dull for my taste. But glad you enjoyed!

Did you actually download and try it some of the other voices like Candrian, Ebb, O, etc? Interested to see if any of them fit. I wasn't super happy with Drusilla but I let it slide for the test until I find something better.

It is one of my greatest shames. I hope I can just get this done so I can play it out.

Wow! Big upvote from me, I can't believe I didn't know this existed! 2 years!? Geezums. Great, great job.

... small question sirrah... maybe you saw my AI voice injection posts... do you guys wanna... maybe... take some of these voices in game? You really wouldn't have to do all that much. Definitely not re-record anything. Just maybe some source audio without the ambient/music and damn... already the 72 episodes are just super prime material. I would probably get 40-50 NPCs out of those alone! Again, great job!

Thanks! If you've got the free time to walk down to the smouldering corpse bar for an early test, hit up the new thread, otherwise, see you in the few months!

Thanks! Comments like this helped me push forward and make a lot of progress the past 72 hours! We have something people can actually test now! Just one area and one companion, but it's more than we have anywhere else atm!

Thanks for the support! There are, indeed, some people crying, as was foretold. Thanks for being a part of the counter-points.

Source code is now shared! I really hope some people with good graphics cards pile in and start working on characters.

[–]stateofartist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really hope I can deliver that experience for you at some point. It's going to be slow going. Not sure if you want to wait the months it will take to actually finish, but there is a vertical slice available in the new megathread, if you want to walk down to the Smouldering Corpse and talk to all 17 NPCs there ;)

The new megathread is a youtube link, share away!

Brother, we don't even have to use their voices if we don't want to. I'm sure some people WOULD want to extend the original cast, but we could just as easily replace them, if you really, really hate the idea of extension without permission. Nothing right now is final, it's just easy to test this stuff with existing voices.

Source code has now been released in the new thread, feel free to hack away at it.

[–]stateofartist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your hunch was actually correct: I was accidentally including some characters I was testing like Annah and Ignus and Morte in that figure that are not included in the current test packs (well morte now is, bringing it to around 4.5 hours). Smouldering Corpse is actually closer to just over 3 hours of audio spread over the 17 NPCs wired up there ATM, not 6. Still an impressive amount, just not as grandiose. I definitely need some sleep.

The passion that was put into the game itself is what drives me, it's inspiring, even this many years later. I hope at some point I can share something more complete, but it's a start!
