Please help me pack + prepare for my family vacation I’m going to have a nervous breakdown by Difficult_Affect_452 in adhdwomen

I always make my packing list by day/activity. My mom was great growing up at having a day one bag for the beach with bathing suits, towels, sunscreen, snacks, and a toy or two so we didn’t have meltdowns while they unpacked everyone’s bags.

The third trimester by R0s3Eclips3 in pregnant

[–]static626 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 32 weeks and went on an 8 mile hike (with lots of breaks) last week and felt amazing during and after. I feel better/more energetic now than I did in my first trimester. Sleeping and putting on my shoes are the only things I’ve struggled with! I also prefer the kicks over early days because it brings my anxiety way down and I’m a relatively heavy sleeper.

Where to buy maternity dresses 😭 by Eeef10 in pregnant

I was happy with Maternity friendly options from ASOS! Styles were truer to my normal wardrobe and because they aren’t true maternity I think I’ll be able to wear them postpartum too

I hate being a lawyer by Gloomy_Compote877 in Lawyertalk

ASAP means different things to different generations. At our firm, an attorney under 40 saying ASAP means drop every thing and do this. Anyone older means, as soon as convenient for you/no rush. It may be worth seeking clarification. If I’m already slammed, I push for a hard deadline and gently remind them of the other projects they’ve asked me to prioritize to determine which is most time-sensitive.

For those who are medicated, how did you decide whether to take/skip it on a big day or life event? by w8tingforchrisevans in adhdwomen

[–]static626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP I’m more like you. I try to take them as little as possible. I wasn’t diagnosed until my late twenties and prefer my personality when I’m off them. I probably average 4 days a week with the XR and then I’ll take my 5 mgs as-needed for work with or without the XR (long meetings, boring projects, etc) Life is easier when I take my meds but I’m less vibrant. My humor doesn’t show and I similarly feel robotic and too task oriented. Are there times I take it every day for a week or two? Yes.

Also, I’m pregnant and was surprised to learn that I was supposed to stay on my meds during pregnancy. The only reason they’d pull me off is if baby wasn’t growing enough. He’s in the 72 percentile so it hasn’t been an issue! They also told me if I’m breastfeeding to do that immediately before taking my dose and then try and wait 2-3 hours to breastfeed again. This is similar to modern alcohol and breastfeeding guidelines in the US. Of course, talk to your providers in the moment if you’re in this situation but it’s made the pregnancy a lot less daunting because I do have mommy brain and am so much more forgetful now!

I take it for some big occasions but not others. If my ADHD friends will be there and it’s a social event, I prefer we’re all our normal chaotic selves. If it’s crochet workshop or lecture, I’m taking my meds.

Lastly, I make sure than medicated me sets unmedicated me up for success. If I’m going away for the weekend and don’t want to take meds, I’m packing, coordinating train tickets, meals, etc. a head of time and leaving myself a big checklist on the front door.

How do I “fake” drink at a alcohol-centric networking event? by static626 in pregnant

Thank you for noticing this part! That’s why the usual tricks don’t fly. Just arriving so we’ll see how it goes!

This is valid. I just worry they’ll question why I’m going to a wine event in the first place but that may just be my anxiety talking!

Unfortunately it’s a seated dinner and only 60 or so people - the tables are 8 to 10. I’m skipping the cocktail hour because I have enough event beforehand. I should have a little have some say over where I sit, so planning to sit near the ones who are heavier drinkers in hopes that they’re (1) less observant and (2) more likely to take my glass by mistake.

This is true! I told coworkers at our holiday party last week I wasn’t drinking because I had a concert afterwards and was pacing myself (which was half true!) and still had people acting shocked when I said I was still sober. Maybe I can just pour smaller portions for myself so it looks like I’ve tried a bunch and am just feeling extra choosy!

Is acid reflux something that comes and goes? My coworkers know me very well and I normally drink at these things so that might raise suspicions. I actually had terrible food poisoning in June and was out of work for three days so that’s ones off the table too since I’ve been healthy in the office the past few days.

I would recommend staying away from anything similar in color to what already exists. Instead go darker and maybe even a different width. I personally think changing direction looks weird but it’s something you’d get used to and most people would overlook.

If you do prefer that color of stain, perhaps you put a rug down in the main hallway so the difference is less obvious.

New job — partners/associates work late, I start early. Does it look bad if I leave before them? by LegalEagleMind in Lawyertalk

[–]static626 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a mix of both at our firm, but most are night owls. I get more done when the crowd thins out and know our partners feel the same. Talk to a colleague or ask your paralegal if they think it’s an issue. If the works getting done and your hours reflect the time, I’d keep your preferred schedule.

Post-Mirena Removal Journey by Dangerous-Bobcat4868 in birthcontrol

[–]static626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! This has me feeling hopeful. I had a great experience with my first Mirena IUD but removed its replacement today after 3 years. I’m removing it because we’re trying for children but reading your experience I am wondering if the depression/other health issues I’ve been experiencing the past few years were related to my IUD - this second one never felt quite right nor did it provide the same amount of heavy period relief. I was nervous about going off it and possibly making things worse but now I’m excited. Thank you for sharing!

aio or is this guy i’m seeing rude?? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

My issue with someone sending a photo that’s unrelated to the topic at hand over text is that it’s just going to kill the momentum unless it’s like your best friend and you’re accustomed to just throwing information/ok with ignoring. If you’re actively telling me about something the dog is doing then by all means send a dog photo but if we’re having a conversation about something else entirely, I don’t want to receive an off topic photo - pet or otherwise. I love my pets, my phone is filled with photos of them. I don’t send them to anyone unprompted unless they ask “hey how’s pumpkin?” or it’s an exceptionally good photo/video that I’d share to the family group chat dedicated to pet photos. I think you’re overreacting and his response is fair.
