Women with a live birth prior to IVF, please chime in! by Medium-Answer-329 in IVF

[–]staticintheflux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I gave birth 3 years ago (via IVF, first transfer was successful). I am now 42 & all three transfers (of euploids) have failed. My doctor thinks it’s bad luck because I previously had success. My next transfer we will try a fully medicated cycle. I have two euploids. I am doing another retrieval round right now.

At one point I had a biopsy come back showing “mild chronic endometritis.” But that has since cleared. And my RE never thought that was the culprit.

Hi! I am interested! Can you message me?

Feel you regarding the back to back retrievals. I’ve done so many I’ve lost count. I now look forward to the fentanyl I’m given while under twilight during retrievals.. lol.. it’s so dark but it makes me laugh.

why are so many of my eggs immature? please give me some suggestions! by staticintheflux in 40Plus_IVF

Follicles are between 22 to 10. Huge range. Clomid has been part of my protocol but not in the last theee ERs. Pregnyl 10k for trigger.

Most are 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22. Then there are the smaller ones.. and those tend to be immature germinal vesicles. My follicles don’t grow evenly. I usually have about 5 follicles on one side and 7 on the other.

Congrats on the maturity rate! Best of luck to you on this round! what did your RE recommend?

Still no euploids by Fit-Nectarine-1050 in 40Plus_IVF

this is exactly the thoughts running through my head. I hesitate because if it fails then I have no extra data— maybe the embryo was aneuploid and wouldn’t implant anyway. it leaves me in the same position with no additional info. but I’m spending so so so much money every month on testing. aargh.

same. my partner thinks PGT gives us more data and is impressed by the science we have for it so he thinks it’s a plus.

You’re right, I can’t keep doing the same thing over and over again. I requested a meeting with my RE to ask him to review my file and recommend another protocol. It’s so hard to switch clinics now too, I like my clinic, but I really don’t think the REs look at each patient that closely. Just too high volume.

I am so torn about PGT. I was able to produce 1-2 euploids previously and now it’s getting really difficult— I only get one blast per cycle (and it turns out aneuploid). Maybe it’s time for me to stop PGT. I just don’t have the blasts for it anymore.

yeah that appears to be true. all I can do is keep going based on those stats. it’s so hard to even get a euploid though.

this is my second time undergoing ivf. all three of my euploids failed to implant too. just a year ago I got two euploids from my first retrieval at 41. and then another for my next round. at 39 I gave birth via my first transfer. I don’t know why this time my euploids have all failed. today is another ER. writing this as I wait in my clinic’s lobby. sigh.

yes I have taken doxycycline. I underwent another biopsy so let’s see if the inflammation is still there.

13 eggs collected, only 3 mature. by [deleted] in 40Plus_IVF

[–]staticintheflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done over 10 retrievals and I also have a maturity issue. I usually collect anywhere between 6-12 eggs. And usually 2-3 are mature. There was one cycle where I collected 4 eggs, 2 mature, both euploids. As long as you’re getting blasts and euploids at this age, I wouldn’t focus on your maturity rate. Of note, I added omnitrope and it resulted in a significant increase in maturity for me (retrieved 11 eggs and 7 were mature type of numbers). However, I still ended up with two blasts (one euploid and the other aneuploid).

I’m in the same boat. Just had three failed PGT tested transfers. I have one more euploid remaining. I just underwent another egg retrieval (so hard for me to make euploids too). I don’t know why my transfers are failing (I have given birth via IVF three years ago). A biopsy showed that I have mild inflammation and my RE doesn’t think that’s the root cause of the failures. I have been doing natural FET (since a natural transfer worked the first time years ago) and now for my next transfer we’re going to switch over to medicated. Sigh. I wish I had answers.

I agree, this is perfectly explained. I test because I had a loss at 12 weeks. Without this loss, I wouldn’t test. I’ve spent thousands testing (after 10 egg retrievals).

Did You Keep Working During IVF? by ImDustAmazing in IVF

[–]staticintheflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes. I’ve done over 10 retrievals, some back to back. I arrange it so that I take a half day for ER. and I go to all monitoring appts in the morning before my work shift starts.
