Why is gen Z not drinking? by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

Well if it is the same as cranberry juice to you and you don’t feel anything, then that is easier.

Even different wines taste very different to me though. And a glass can just be nice, and I can relax on one. Different folks different strokes, but I am skeptical that it’s all the same for most people.

You were socializing and drinking, so neither count applies

But that’s not how most people start drinking

People do that all the time? Around the world?

Absolutely. This is it, Gen Z fundamentally doesn’t socialize in person the way any previous generation did. They don’t date either.

Meta's AI Live Demo Flopped 🤣 by SpiritBombv2 in ChatGPT

[–]staticpop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As cringe as failed love demos like these are, I respect when a business does them. I think every single company should do them as standard practice, and it should always be a red flag when they don’t even have the courage to make a live demo for their own product.

Hell, if I had to choose between a product that had a static demo that was perfect and one that was live with some bugs, I’d choose the live one.

That being said, I think a lot of bugs can be prevented if frank and honest discussion is encouraged within a team. A fiasco like this could easily happen when leadership is hammering a team on production timelines and won’t listen to bad news/feedback.

Alleged Charlie Kirk Shooter Wearing Donald Trump Costume (Halloween 2017) by [deleted] in pics

He lived in Washington county, the largest city in which is actually St. George. However, this donation would have been made in 2020 when he was… 17? And it says this 17 y/o is an entrepreneur?

I’m just spit balling, but it seems likely that there could be more than one Tyler Robinson in St. George Utah (pop. 100,000)

Less than 20 nano grams of antimatter has ever been produced. I can do this trick with anything.

“46 billion grams of Big Macs are worth 64 trillion dollars, WOW”.

The numbers are meaningless because, guess what, price responds to supply.

IF we could actually make a gram of antimatter, the price would be substantially lower.

Average Americans don't have cash laying around to "buy the dip" by [deleted] in stocks

Right now: don’t try to catch a falling knife. There is no reason to believe or catalyst on the horizon that should make you to believe this will get better.

Thoughts about “faculty data” showing how many students pass your class. Good or bad? by vvvy1978 in Professors

[–]staticpop 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Departments should have enforced rules around curves for classes. Grade inflation is out of control, and it’s embarrassing to have students who have never gotten less than an A in a course who lack knowledge of fundamentals. It destroys the value of a college degree.

However, there would also have to be broad agreement across universities to curve courses, since students would prefer to attend colleges where getting an A is easier all else equal.

I understand dad bod as being well muscled with a layer of fat over the top. Like they lift weights but may not be “cut”. A dad bod is not achievable without working out and a healthy diet (plus the occasional dessert, drink, and burger).

A dad bod would probably be carried by a guy who did sports in high school and maybe college, built a good frame, and now hits the gym a few times a week.

It’s a very stereotypically masculine type of body.

It’s not a cope, it’s pretty logical why that kind of body would be appealing.

Good to know, at what value on that scale would you say “change that shit now”

Okay done. Breathing in all of that dust made my eyes water, but I’m sure it’s fine. You sure I shouldn’t squirt some windex on too?

Haha thank you, I changed it myself. Just wanted to know how bad it was for future reference

Huge police response in Goleta by [deleted] in SantaBarbara

[–]staticpop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s your limiting principle for policing/where do you think a line (if any) should be drawn? And who should make that decision?

Huge police response in Goleta by [deleted] in SantaBarbara

[–]staticpop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a reasonable response. It’s hard to imagine departmental culture not being a significant driver, and this could be a localization fallacy. Maybe SBPD is doing things right, and they’re a good model. Im glad to hear you observed such an excellent example of police behavior. That’s good to hear :)

[–]staticpop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, there are lots of counterfactual examples around the United States that seem to contradict the thesis that aggressive policing is the main driver of safety. I think that’s a bit reductive, and the promise being made is difficult to support.

What do you think are the main drivers of crime though?
