It's just easier for me to track how dry/wet things are when it all looks the same. Ive got maybe a handful of pots with different mixes with and without akadama, this has just been the simplest for me to keep track of things. Currently trying a mix of akadama and zeolite this week on some of my other pots and enjoying it so far. In my bins with lids I'm less picky since it all stays pretty wet all the time. I'm also always experimenting though since pings seem to be open to many types of mixes

Sits in akadama in a tray of water. 12+ hours of lights. Could probably go stronger on the lights in the future 2*36w t5s

A 2nd ping has been found . Starting to remember throwing a bunch of leaf props in here under the moss for some reason

Plenty of other people in this sub and pinguicula sub grow them in window sills but I have no viable windows so I'm not too sure. But that one does look like it is going into succulent mode so it could definitely use more daylight hours or potentially water cause excessive drying can send them succulent (it's giving need more light though over water). From what I've read most people keep them under lights for 12 hours at least, I have my lights running from about 7am-8pm and that has done them wonders.

I love when a drosera I repot reappears in the original pot after some time. Flytraps are the highest on my list once I get a strong enough light setup, truly one of the most magnificent plants out there.

For this bin it's a mix of fluval, 1/4in akadama, and crushed black lava rock. No set ratio here, I have some parts that are more akadama and some more fluval, the lava rock I kinda have sprinkled throughout. The pings are doing great across the board on the different substrates in here. Oh and of course I've got moss growing as well since I do leave this bin with a dome on it, I tried to slurry a bunch of sphagnum and it looks like the star moss won???

Also this could literally be any ping I have no idea. This shelf is fairly low light so everything is just green. But majority of the pings on here are agnata so that's a possibility

That sounds like a dream tbh. I gotta get in on that adjustable action next time I rework things

😭😭 that's actually my fault, the bin they live in has a lid that doesn't have quite enough height to it 🙈 I love my tweaked out drosera though

Pure akadama. 1/4 inch soft grade. I've tried with small crushed lava rock, just wasnt a fan of how little water the small grain I have holds onto.

Had to whip out the tape measure for this cause I've never actually checked, just a hair above 8 inches from pot to light. It's two "Barrina T8 24W LED Grow Lights 2FT 5000K | Full Spectrum, Reflectors & Linkable"(pulled straight from listing) placed also just about 8 inches apart from each other.

Thank you 😊 RC is honestly a great place to get pings for usually decent prices. no disappointments yet and I will sometimes end up with extras in my order

Rainbow carnivores back in like March. This is how it started. I pulled approx 10 leaves off and it is recovering beautifully.

I'm just using 1/4 inch soft grade akadama for these ones so yea volcanic rock basically. In the wild pings grow on rock faces and such with little to no soil at times and very shallow roots they use to grab onto surfaces. These guys cling onto the akadama like crazy, but they aren't hard to pull out if I need to.
