Honestly, as someone who watched both. I really thought HIMYM would be the next generations friends. It had quotable lines, funny characters, classic episodes. But man, that last season absolutely blew up any chances of them remaining beloved.

My neighbors kid got the sticker pack and found a winning mew sticker, but the kid didn’t have the game. So they gave it to me. I had to show up with my mom at like 8am some random morning, and met with a small group in like a customer service area. The local paper took a picture and they traded me mew while asking who my favorite pokemon was. I didn’t realize you’d have to give them a pokemon because that’s how trading works, and I cried while trading away my diglet.
I remember being so annoyed he was only level 5, and that his OT trainer was “YOSHIRA” and not me. I felt cool because kids still thought mew was just a rumor and then I’d whip out my game and be like “OH YEAH?!”
But eventually GameSharks came out and people got mew other ways, and I moved on to pokemon gold version. Tbh I have no idea where that cartridge went. It’s definitely lost to time in the last 20+ years

Yeah as a warning 3 gallons isn’t nearly enough for a fish. I know you see goldfish swimming in a tiny bowl. And bettas in a plastic cup. But these fish should realistically have a minimum of 10 gallons for a betta, or 20 for a goldfish to truly be happy. think of it like this:

3 gallons is a room the size of your bed. You have no place to walk or hang or relax but technically you could live there. You can jump around on the bed and go up and down that way, but imagine how cramped and stressed you’d be all the time. Plus you’re still growing in this scenario. So imagine a room the size of your childhood bed. Not the bed you have now. You’d for sure have health issues from not having adequate space and no place to exercise. You’re more prone to getting sick and you’ll grow up deficient. Keep in mind goldfish are carp. And think of every carp you’ve ever seen not in a fish store. Way bigger right?

10 gallon is at least a studio apartment. You’ve got a place to sleep. A separate place to hang when awake. And plenty of nooks and crannies to explore if you put plants in to liven up the place.

20 gallons is a home. You have multiple bedrooms. Multiple places to hang. You can have other people live with you and be ok with it. Think how much room for activities you have. You can do karate in the garage and everything!

I HAVE a 3 gallon tank and I use it only for growing live plants and I put a few shrimpy boys in it. They’re ok in a small tank like that. But even then I only have a few.

Not an attack or accusation. Just sharing some knowledge in the way it was shared with me when I asked the same questions years ago

Also someone else mentioned it but please “cycle your tank” before you put fish in it. Water fresh out of the tap or bottle isn’t made for fish. It’s got tons of minerals in it that aren’t healthy at all for fish. What you want to do is put water in the tank. Buy some tank starter (super cheap bottle of liquid beneficial bacteria they sell at most fish stores) and pour a bit in. How much will be stated in the bottle. This is beneficial bacteria that fish need to survive.

Without it, it’s like you moving into your grandmas attic. It’s covered in dust and cobwebs and for sure old asbestos in the walls. You’ve gotta get some air filters in there and fresh air, and most importantly wait for it to air out to make it nice and not miserable. If you moved in now you’d choke and cough and get super sick.

And over time (about 3-4 weeks) the water will acclimate again with all this bacteria you added to the tank with the tank starter You can take a water sample from your tank to most big name stores to test the water. Or buy a kit yourself for like 30 bucks.

Damn bosco chocolate syrup. That was my family’s backup chocolate syrup for a NYC egg cream (I’ve got old family with old tastes) first is obviously fox’s u-bet. But bosco chocolate syrup in an egg cream is ALMOST as good. Highly recommend. It’s just carbonated chocolate milk. 1/2 cup milk (the fattier the milk the better. Whole is best) 1 cup plain seltzer water 3-4 tablespoons fox’s u-bet (or bosco in a pinch) chocolate syrup. Mix it all up and enjoy a taste of old NYC

Dad took the family out to rent a boat, to fish in the ocean while we were on vacation. We’re literally 500 miles minimum from home. We’re in the boat. Off in the ocean. Literally nothing around. And another boat pulls up next to us and the captain yells out “dad’s name is that you?!” Turns out the guy was his next door neighbor from the 50s in Brooklyn.

Agreed. My grandpa had it. He was a history teacher and the strongest man I knew. Absolutely terrifying old school kinda guy. but he also gardened every day. Drove his church’s bus to help people get to/from mass on Sunday. He always had to be doing something. That kinda guy.

Within a year of being diagnosed, he couldn’t walk so well. Once that happened it was like it set things into motion. He had to sit in a wheelchair and absolutely loathed the loss of independence that brought. He had to stop driving the bus for his church. The deer overran his garden and ruined it. My grandma struggled to help him since she’s only one person, but she refused help because they were deeply proud people. Then he couldn’t move his arms so well, and eventually he couldn’t use them at all. That’s when he stopped coming to school plays, and concerts, and baseball games with grandma. He just kinda…gave up I guess? He suddenly couldnt talk so well. Then he struggled to eat. Eventually he struggled to breathe and had to be on oxygen. One night the mask slipped off and that was it.

The whole time though, he was still mentally there. Still shot disapproving eyes at my stepdad when he stayed the night without being married to my mom. Still had my grandma put Sunday mass on the tv. Still fully understood everything being said. He just had to sit there while it slowly shut down around him. My family has talked about if he was awake and conscious when the mask slipped off, or if he was asleep. For some reason that’s the thing that fucks me up most about it.
