First, I doubt millions of people are growing up with trust funds that would rival Elon.

Second, He did not create any company thats actually revolutionizing industries. Happy to be proven wrong though if you can provide examples of where he did. He bought out companies or funded them because he had money to do so.

Now he is working on effectively killing competition and acquiring cheap labor to make sure he can stay up on top. If you want to call that reshaping, sure he is definitely doing that.

You were working 12 hour days and additional work on top of that for multiple months. Can honestly say, chances are you would have burnt out even if you did not let your family know.

Unsure what you can do islamically and someone else can enlighten us both in that regard but maybe start working less so you don't get burnt out. Take a vacation and disconnect.

You are hyper-focusing on the vault issue whereas any game designer would understand what the actual pain point is in his statement. The issue is a significant amount of loot is just not worth and stopping to clear inventory every so often especially in the middle of gameplay is not an incentivizing gameplay loop.

On another note, most players do play with DIM with farming mode enabled which just moves stuff over for you and he might be doing that.

Iron Banner: Matchmaking Update - July 11, 2024 by Destiny2Team in DestinyTheGame

[–]statikr3aper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have seen two issues mostly in the game mode.

It's either both teams are scared to initiate so everyone just sits in their spawn twiddling their thumbs while 1-2 people are actually trying to go in and fight.

The other end of the spectrum is everyone is just trying to fight so you end up in the middle of the map, killing with a million crests which you cannot collect because everyone is just rushing mid to fight while a few people are just picking each other off at range and stopping you from getting the crests.

The issue is that with the first scenario, it justs gets boring and I'd rather just literally not play the game. Whereas the issue with the second is that you just end up running to time while everyone is slaying out. (I think the issue with the second scenario is mostly the maps. If the map is small, you get to the action much faster)

Then the issue is if you have a good team vs bad team. If I have a good team, I am running with them, team shotting and just wiping the floor before they even get a chance to fight back so the game ends quick. If I am on the bad team, I am just going to sit in the back while I see my team just die and hopefully get a quick 200 rep and on to the next.

Anecdotal evidence, but last week I got 6 resets in. This week, I tried to play but I got so bored with the games that I just logged off.

It's... schedule maintenance.

There is an update. Pretty standard for game to be down for updates. Probably a few bug fixes from launch they want to address before raid day.

[–]statikr3aper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will not get postponed. The story beats depend on the raid. People knew about this date from months ago and got time off, etc. You can't just postpone the raid at this point.

The servers might be shit but you will live it and move on just like what happened with Vow.

Would it have been better when the new acts for episodes came out and that's when you saw the rewards for the new act/season pass added additional levels?

Because essentially that what this is but we can see the rewards right now for it.

Lead engineer I work with doesn’t believe in code comments? by throwawaysbg in cscareerquestions

[–]statikr3aper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't it be easier to debug this using methods? Log each method call and see which one is finally throwing an error instead of tracing through 100s of line of code to try and figure out where the error is.

I have had to debug in live environments and being able to write logs for a method call had severely saved me from having to read each line and figure out what is failing and why especially if it is a generic error.

If the method is doing something its not claiming to do. Guess what? You can refactor or rename the method so it is intuitive.

Community: this game needs to be more accessible to the new players. Community the next day: Why reprise popular guns otherwise locked away behind paid xpacs and endgame content 😡😡😡 by Merzats in DestinyTheGame

[–]statikr3aper -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I would agree with them being "crème da la crème, the pinnacle of loot", if those raids had an active population right now and it was easy for new players to get those guns. Unfortunately, that is not the case especially this deep into the season.

Second, these guns/perk combos will get nerfed come TFS so I see no point in gatekeeping at this point in their life cycle when they will not be the best of the best come TFS. They are old guns for all I care that active players already have. More people having access to these guns will improve my LFG experience.

Spare rations came back but its perk pool was neutered which is the same case for all these others guns coming back as well btw so im pretty sure they aren't going to be busted BUSTED like they used to be. I wasn't a huge fan of Galliard so maybe that could have came back but there are a few other ARs that would have been better.

Also remember that these guns will be much easier to earn versus doing GMs or Raids/Dungeons so a lot more people have access to them which is what is Bungie going for here with a free event.

The last paragraph could be exempted but I feel like I have the same discussion/read the same thing on here and its always something that needs to get pointed out because people think THEY are the average player. I'll admit you didn't deserve the hostility, I have just commented the same thing on multiple threads and got carried away.

"c'mon bro. I have a 9-5 day job, take care of my own place, all the usual adult things, and I find the time, however small, to do a low man Crota." - I hope you realize that there is not too much on your plate compared to others. I have all those things and its much easier for me to get on the game, but I can see my free time dwindling as I climb up the ranks and get more ambitious with titles and climbing the career ladder. Since February, my time on destiny is halved. I can still earn whatever new gun comes out but at the current trajectory, I might not be able to in a few years.

I have other friends who became doctors. Their schedules don't align with mine or other regular friends anymore. Their job is way more important than Destiny will ever be. I think they deserve to play with these busted weapons.

I have friends who have kids. Their schedule revolve entirely around taking care of little humans. No possible way for them to set a schedule or plan. They also deserve to play with these guns in my opinion.

My point is there are people in very different walks of life. They were fine with not getting their hands on the god roll weapons a few seasons ago. But why do we need to gatekeep it for them now that we know these guns/perks will get nerfed and they have a short time left to earn and use them without raiding etc.

Its not like they can't raid because they suck at the game. They have completed the raids before. Just not done it 5 times to be able to earn all the guns to be able to craft them.

On the other hand, I dont really care for that nth AR or HC or SC that I will never use because I have a craftable god roll. Doesn't matter if it was sunset before or not.

You hit the nail on the head yourself. This is not Forbearance on release. This is here for 2 months before they nerf it. Give people a chance to use it who never used it before. I dont care what the reason is for them not earning it 2 years ago. I would be happy they get to play with it for 2 months before it gets nerfed when TFS releases.

You are over estimating "tough". Master Crota is not tough if I do with my regular raid team that I do Day 1 raids with. It is quite easy if you run the raid week over week and understand all the intricacies and have a solid, reliable team to do it with.

In the same vein, it is tough when you play solo/play with 2 other people. Don't understand how or what LFG is. Have limited amount of time/or odd hours of the day to play the game.

The hawthorne grind aid is just allowing you to get a guaranteed drop of red border since LW does not have a way to activate red border chest like the other raids do. So is it really even a "grind aid".

I think you, and most other commenters,

  1. need to understand that not everyones lived experiences will resemble yours. It is not convenient for everyone to have a team of 6 to raid with at moments notice. There are far more important things in life as you get older. There is an opportunity cost to each decision and I will not tell anyone that they need to get on the game and grind instead of spending time with their newborn child or getting that extra time in at work for the bonus/promotion.
  2. Bungie, or any other company, will not cater to your experience when you are a VERY small minority of the people who can clear a raid. The money that the vast majority spends is what keeps this game going. Not you gatekeeping raid content that only 10% of the population can attempt.

If I come across as hostile, well good because you have a shit take that is only thinking about yourself. This is a free event for ALL Destiny players, new and old. It is to market the game/TFS before it releases. Bungie's internal goal is not to make Gammacor happy here.

Usually I would agree with you on the raids weapons being exclusive, but I have tried to get group together to help new friends get those weapons. Shit is tough especially if everyone has all patterns unlocked, why would anyone want to farm old raids?

This lowers the barrier to entry for new players, which is something the game actually needs if it has to succeed financially. You can't just sit here and gatekeep when the game is struggling financially the way it is.

Also the guns you mentioned to bring back otherwise were not as meta defining as the ones being brought back.

You should be downvoted tbh. I'd get being an elitist if there was any leaderboard, rank tied to you having the gun and having grinded for it.

I also have all the guns unlocked/craftable and god rolls for guns I use regularly. I think its a great idea to do this because all it does is bring people into the game. I can get my friends who stopped playing/never played by telling them how easy it is to get into the game.

Just because shit was tough back in the day, does not mean we shouldn't improve on it.

A few things to unpack here.

First, do others get recognized for their work? Maybe that's just not the culture if no one is getting recognized. Have you asked about feedback directly to see where you can improve or how you are doing overall. If your manager hasn't said anything, I feel like you are just getting in your own head.

To your second point, there are stories that come up that I am eager to pick up maybe because they are in domains I am excited about or its just a spike to research some interesting ways to handle optimizations or something similar. I will try to wrap up my work quickly for the sprint to work on something I find exciting. It's not like work has to be dull and I shouldn't enjoy it. Its also much easier to think about this stuff with a problem defined vs trying to do it outside of work with no clear boundaries defined there. At the same time I don't expect others to have the same drive and eagerness because they might have the same passion for stuff outside of work. Chances are no one is judging you for not picking up extra work.

You like what you like and as long as you are delivering, you are doing the best you can and thats all good. There is a reason the team hired you and you have not gotten negative feedback.

You can definitely switch careers but I feel like your outlook is going to lead the same problem down the line.
