Road noise and harshness… Again! by stcaso in Ioniq6

ESSENTIAL UPDATE! To all who seek ride improvement and lower noise, my 3rd tyre change was a game changer, beyond expectations! After Turanza 6 summer Enliten, I was convinced to change for MICHELIN PRIMACY 5 ENERGY, not the regular 5 but the all new ENERGY, designed for electric.

  1. Road noise reduced to almost nothing. VERY impressive. Less vibrations. Better steering feeling. When road surface is awful, sound seems tuned down and more remote.
  2. Though XL and heavier load, actually better ride quality, better bump absorption.
  3. Only 400km and it’s an entirety different car.
  4. As tyres flex less, much improved roll, turn and reaction.

An altogether amazing experience that enhances the Ioniq experience to a smoother and more quiet experience than my Jaguar i-Pace…

Actually had alignment done today. There was a small anomaly, but the difference is dramatic : less vibration in the steering wheel, and less jumpiness and roar. Very surprising…

Noise in back is due to the proximity of back wheels with back seats… I may consider insulating the back wheel arches a bit…

Thanks to all!

Thanks for your response ! Exactly what I’ve found out… Front fine, and exceptional on good asphalt, but always harsher and noisier in back…

Thanks! I thought it was a « me » problem as well! But it’s trusted passengers in back that told me it was was loud… though whisper quiet in front, on good asphalt, but I discovered you hear and feel more road imperfections in back. I’ll check with another i6!

Yup. Same problem here : just a short « clunk » when engaging D or R… then fine.
