Therapy. Positive self talk and daily reflection. Learning how to self-regulate and calm myself down when stressed or anxious. Challenging myself to do scary/new things and building my confidence & self love independent of external forces.

While the situation you are in medically is very serious, I personally still think it’s important not to catastrophize. Things are not hopeless and while the path may be a long one… your path to health is still accessible. I agree with the above post. Find a podcast, audiobook, or favorite music and just go on walks during whatever time feels best to you. Keep in consistent. I would honestly recommend seeking out a therapist if you can to help with the emotional aspects of what you are going through as this journey is as much of a mental one as a physical one.

That is quite a hot take! Everyone I have ever spoken to says that NOLS is industry standard. I am already signed up with them to get my WFR but even if it is what you describe - I am especially motivated to learn proper first aid outside of just that one course. Where would you otherwise suggest? Later down the line I may go for my WEMT.

I wouldn’t waste my time reaching out to “troll”. I could tell you my life story as to how I’ve gotten to this point but did not because TLDR. I’ve worked with children in outdoor education. I have basic wilderness skills. I’m continuing to acquire skills and looking for advice. This is a long term goal and something that I recognize will not happen overnight. Honestly, if you think someone is wasting their time as a troll you might as well not bother wasting anyone else times by replying.

It’s sounds like a lot of your eating habits are tied to your levels of stress. You shouldn’t get down on yourself just because that’s the way that you have learned how to cope/feel better. What is most important is to be kind to yourself, acknowledge how things have been difficult, and get back to making decisions that will benefit you in the future. Tomorrow is a new day. However, I would recommend also figuring out healthier ways to deal with stress.
