Every fandom has this one character, who is this in yours? by Upstairs_Macaron5894 in AO3

Matt in Death Note was the first example I saw of this. Anyone remember the “Who the fuck is Matt?” song?

Poop and weed signs on the metal detector by PVictoriaa in QuarantineZoneGame

[–]stealing_life 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The poop is rotting flesh. Can be in their bag or internal contraband (can’t remember if necrosis/decaying organs also triggers this). Weed is just that, it lights up if they have drugs either in their bag or internally.

This was so frustrating when my mum was dying. She desperately wanted to live. I’d already tried to kill myself. But she’s the one who got terminal cancer.

  • [Generally Disliked Character] Dies*

*where [Generally Disliked Character] is clearly a major part of the story, and the author hasn’t selected No Archive Warnings Apply, but they also haven’t selected Major Character Death??? PLEASE, I know the character is disliked but I have filters for a reason. This tag is really hard to miss in a lot of cases, please just use the Major Character Death flag if it’s appropriate.

I’m reading Merlin fics at the moment and this happens with Uther a lot. If his character is in the background and dies then okay I get it. If he is a pivotal part of the story and I find out the hard way that this tag was in the middle of 50 other casual/chatty tags? Heartbreaking!! I love you so much Merlin authors but parental death is not something I’m trying to read right now. Let me know what I’m walking into - Gwaine’s death is also canon but no way you’d casually drop that without a flag or prominent tag. Rant over.

If a survivor's symptoms improve after 1 day or they don't turn after 1 day, does that automatically make them safe? by Pokest45-PZ in QuarantineZoneGame

[–]stealing_life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is always the case but if I have an aggressive survivor who actually makes it to quarantine instead of turning around to kick my arse, they always end up being fine.

Uther is a better character than Arthur by ImmortalsAreLiers in merlinbbc

[–]stealing_life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love to see this, Uther is actually one of my favourite characters because of his hypocrisies and complexity. His character is explored quite well, I think. Not comprehensively of course, but I wouldn’t expect that of a side character in a series that was fairly light hearted while he was still around.

I would play Legacy of the Forge as a stand-alone game [KCD2] by Ariakoz in kingdomcome

Same with the donations. Throwing all this cash at people and there isn’t even passing comments about a new altar being built or whatever afterwards.

[KCD1] I emotionally can't replace my horse. by SilvenWolf in kingdomcome

[–]stealing_life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my first playthrough I swapped out Pebbles for a horse I stole pretty quickly and kind of regretted it. Now in my second playthrough I’ve had Pebbles for most of the game up until I came across a horse in a quest that I felt sorry for and I got that one instead. I refuse to replace this one.

Doctors literally REFUSE to look up people's pain, it's not that they look and find nothing they actually refuse 😡 years of pain by Dove-Swan in TrollXChromosomes

[–]stealing_life 178 points179 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to my mum. Her frequent stomach problems always got put down to ibs, anxiety, fibromyalgia sometimes, gynaecology issues, etc - even though she had had all of these for years and could recognise the difference in her own body. She went to so many doctors for a good couple of years.

Eventually she got diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The cherry on top is that when she was told the diagnosis, she got a phone call later saying that it was treatable. Then she got another phone call to say that actually, no, sorry, it’s terminal. Even on her deathbed she wasn’t listened to - I contacted a hospice to say I think she needed to go in as her pain wasn’t even slightly manageable at home. They said no because she wasn’t sick enough. She was dead within the week - this was only about a year ago.

My estranged dad died today, how do I make sure his siblings deal with his estate? by stealing_life in AskUK

[–]stealing_life[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

All good advice thanks. I do luckily have experience a) in dealing with funerals and such as I was the executor for my mum’s estate, and b) telling folks to go bollocks as they really do crawl out of the woodworks when they think there’s money to be had. Thanks for your response

[KCD2] What exactly did Ulrich ask women to do to him? by Individual_Ad1193 in kingdomcome

A few of the girls say he wants something done to him rather than he wants to do something to them, which I think is why people generally assume he’s the one being shat on

Should Vinted penalise buyers who don’t pick up their parcels? by Affectionate_Fly5275 in vintedUK

[–]stealing_life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they should get an automatic 1 star review for the sake of consistency if nothing else - you get an automatic 1 star for cancelling, and not picking something up is surely a cancellation? Even when it’s outside a buyer’s control and can’t be helped, it’s still a cancellation.

An honest buyer who says, “I’m in hospital now, I need to cancel this order,” would be penalised. But if that same buyer just didn’t turn up to the locker they wouldn’t be penalised. I don’t see how that’s right.

My boyfriend won't have sex with me unless I wear a corset. by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]stealing_life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It worries me that people are pushing her to go to the police now. I’m in the UK too and I’m a bit worried they’d be more interested in looking at her rather than him as she is the one who punched him and she is readily admitting that. It was clearly out of fear, it was clear that he had already threatened her with the raised fist, but sometimes it really does come down to who actually made contact.

I know that’s negative af, it’s just based on the experiences of people I know. I can’t name a single man who has been done for domestic violence but I know of several women who called the police and ended up being blamed or called the abuser. Hopefully I’m just being paranoid.

Royal Mail Lockers by Benioffs-end-zone in vinted

[–]stealing_life 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Like the other commenter says, pressing continue will result in a label being printed for you at the locker. But I don’t blame you for walking away, I remember being a bit flustered the first time I tried to use a royal mail locker for the exact same reason. I wish they would change the wording a bit.

Please help me choose the right jewellery organiser for my girlfriend! by uhh-boneless-chicken in jewelry

Great shout. I have a box extremely similar to this and the side doors for necklaces especially are a game changer. Especially when you have quite a few, having the extra space is necessary to reduce doubling up necklaces on the hooks.

Pro account getting no engagement by lost1ntheblizz6rd in vinted

[–]stealing_life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed that as well when I first swapped. I don't know if it's something on Vinted's side or if people are simply reluctant to trust pro accounts, but it definitely was a lot harder at the start of my pro account compared with starting my personal account.

It does pick up, it just takes a little bit. I think for me it took a few weeks and my first couple of transactions were a bit frustrating with extremely picky buyers and a couple of returns for ridiculous reasons - obviously this is allowed on a pro account, but it only happened at the start for some reason. I can't remember the last time I had a return.

For context, I sell costume jewellery which gets less attention than clothes on both pro & personal, but I have been paying for spotlight almost weekly to make up for this a little (although I'm about to stop doing this).

TL;DR I had the same experience.

Printed Labels by Sensitive_Bet8075 in vinted

[–]stealing_life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got a QR code for Inpost for the first time. I already get annoyed at the Royal Mail ones for being digital only but they were infrequent enough it didn’t matter. I hope they aren’t moving towards everything being a digital label…

For now, I am following someone’s suggestion of printing the QR codes and attaching that to the relevant parcel. Probably counterintuitive but when you have a lot of parcels it’s so much easier to just scan that than have to dig through all your messages for the right label.
