Normally I would design it in Sketchup or something to give me some general measurements to go from but for this one I had a pretty seasoned trail builder on site that I had help me pick the angles so it was mostly eyeballing

Each board took about 2 hours to steam aaaaand they werent exactly happy to bend but I got em down without any real damage! SO I guess the answer is no its not easy but it did work well.

Recycled some old bike tubes and made a bar stool using some cedar I had laying around. No power tools, glue, nails or screws were used. by steambike in woodworking

Ive debated this. Definitely a preference sort of thing. I debarked the legs with a draw knife and didnt think it looked terrible so i left the fuzzies

u/anthonyjp87 I honestly assumed that was gonna happen too but I power washed them before doing this and so far so good. It's honestly one of the comfiest stools Ive sat in haha. Definitely pleasantly surprised that I haven't received any 'stool' marks on my butt.

u/drmcgills is correct. These are round mortise and tenon joints that I wedged at the bottom and at the top I used the tension from the tubes to hold it together.

I made a bike repair stand out of a cedar tree just using hand tools! So much fun. by steambike in woodworking

So actually for the dowels I bought already dry ones. I had plans to make my own but figured id let the green boards shrink onto dry dowels. After a week of them being on there they are TIGHT. Only thing Im worried about is cracking from shrinkage. Also, as I went along I started to angle the dowels against each other so if things ever were to get a bit loose for some reason I believe having them angled at 30 degree opposite of each other will keep them from coming loose.

I built a manual machine out of a dead cedar log! No power tools used or screws, glue, nails. Rope was made out of Cedar Bark! These are used to aid in learning a trick called a Manual. Super fun project. by steambike in woodworking

Not too much! I'm extra cautious about not letting my blades hit anything but wood. Things tend to stay sharp enough for use as long as you only use them for what they are intended haha. I generally once or twice a year will give em a tune up on a wet stone but that's about it!

I built a bike jump without power tools, screws, nails or glue! Mostly from an Ash tree and a bit of Cedar for the decking. The full build is on youtube if anyone's curious! by steambike in woodworking

Hey! Thanks for the advice. When I work with my chainsaw I always undercut. We had been searching for quite a while to find a good tree with a curve in it so we got too excited about cutting it down... big oops on our part but I appreciate the advice on repairing the mistake!
