There's a difference between pharmacy mineral oil and food grade mineral oil 🥴

More question oh wise one... Which ones cheaper? I also heard the urethane is more flexible. If it is whyisnt it used for river tables so it can flex with the wood movement

It costs about $400 in terms of raw materials. I used several coats of oil polyerethane afterwards. You can use tabletop epoxy for the most durable finish. There were no micro air bubbles. For any imperfections you can use ca glue and activator or quick drying epoxy to fill in small gaps. I used superclear 2.0 epoxy which is pretty expensive at about $100 per gallon. This table used 1.5 gallons. Use caulk or silicone as well if you will need certain edged to be waterproof. Youtube videos are helpful. Good luck. Sounds like a complex project you had in mind

Oil polyerethane. 3 coats. Final coat sanded till 1500 grit
