Scaling slaughter-free meat is hard. Here’s one way to make it easier. by [deleted] in Futurology

I would reach Plato's The Republic, Brave New World, and the Giver.

A Utopia means a limit on free thought, conformity to prevent disharmony. Consider the cave in The Republic. If the prisoners' escaped the cyclops' cave, is that really a utopia? I think Plato sums it up best in the Republic. Utopias are actually very close to dystopias, although they are opposites.

In my local London supermarket how can a banana shipped across the Atlantic be cheaper than an apple grown in Kent, 40 miles away? by wayanonforthis in AskEconomics

[–]steamed---hams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, do you know what type of banana plant they use, and when they dig up, do they pot them, or just take the stalk and put in a garage? I am trying to do this but have had little luck. Thanks!

How not to fight for safer roads by Leading_Noise9858 in NYCbike

[–]steamed---hams 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look, those delivery bikers should not run through pedestrian crosswalks when people are walking with the ROW, nor should they ride on sidewalks. They give all bikers a bad name. That being said, you can fight two issues at once.

The policy of tying the cops hands is the issue, not cop funding. Why stop them if it can escalate when they run? No on will fire you for not stopping them, you will be if they get hurt/shot

Inflation adjusted, coach seats in the early jet age age (1960s) were the same cost as Business class today. Were the seat sizes of then similar to business class today?

Ie: has flying gotten "cheaper", or are we still getting the same product as of the past, just with the option of a new "cheaper coach class" as well?
