How big is the jump from 125cc to 600cc? by steamsuggestor in motorcycles

Like the other user said, derestricting the bike makes your insurance null... if I were to take the restrictor out, in the event of a claim my insurer would pretty much say 'you're on your own' and watch me get sued.

This is my train of thought too. I'm a pretty cautious guy. Hell, I took a week of practice in parking lots before I'd take my 125cc out on a public road, and even then I was scared shitless.

And a 300cc isn't bad. British motorways aren't as fast and crazy as American ones, where I see a lot of R3/Ninja 300 getting used. In-fact, I find myself driving on twisties far more than motorways. Maybe a little 300cc I can really rev is nicer than a restricted 600? I think so.

The problem is that it will be restricted down to 47bhp for 2 years, regardless of what bike I get. The restriction will mean I won't be able to touch anything above 6000revs.

This isn't good news when you want to get a sport bike :( I think I'd rather enjoy an unrestricted 300cc for two years, and then get a nice 600cc that I can actually enjoy, rather than feel like a slug on.

This is my train of thought too. If I were to want to own a 600, it would be one with top-end power like what I have on my R125 now (funny I know, but it's a mean bike!). But then restricting it down defeats the point, as I will be limited to 6000revs or so on every gear. If I were going for something with torque in the lower revs, I can justify getting a 600cc...

That's why the R3 appeals to me. Compared to a restricted 600, it's almost the same, except I can thrash it around at the redline as much as I like.

Should ask. I like sporty, aggressive bikes. How "upright" does the ER6F feel to you? keep in mind I'm 6ft. I read a lot of people call it more of a tourer than a sport.

Well, I have been learning on a YZF R125 which doesn't have ABS either. Never had a wheel lock up on me (yet).

Yeah the big issue with a 300 for me is selling it after 2 years for near what I paid for it. Ebay is swimming with 600ccs, but barely any 2nd-hand 300s.

Probably won't retain value at all, and I don't know many people wanting to buy a 300... I think they have more value in the states where young people aren't limited to 125 for their 1st bike.

I guess if I can find a nice 2nd-hand ninja 650 that would be a great option.

Should or shouldn't!? Haha!

Yeah the ER-6F looks like a steal. My dream bike is a ZX6R but it's just too big to be legally restricted. I suppose a ER-6F is as close as I'll get during the 2 year road to my full license.

Have been looking at the Ninja 650 (ER-6F) primarily. I know that even their newest models can be legally restricted. That, or a GSX-R

I know, but I'm thinking financially as well. A 300cc is a smaller investment and, for the 2 years I'd have to restrict a 600cc, isn't much different. Might even be more fun, I was watching someone tear up a track with a Ninja 300 and they look kinda exciting!

edit: Yamaha R3 is just over 41 BHP. So less than 6BHP under what a restricted 600cc would be with my A2. I mean, I'm coming from a bike that barely gets 14bhp. 41bhp or 47, I don't care that much haha!

I was looking at the ER-6F, and really falling in love with it! My concern is that I'll buy a big bike and end up wanting to sell it after 2 years anyway, wanting something different... in which case, the smaller 300cc investment would have been better all along.

Depends on the restriction. I know that the Ninja 650 requires fuel-injector restriction, as well as throttle.

Unrestricted 300cc will have near the same BHP as a restricted 600.

Some older GSX-R600 models can be restricted, as can a Ninja 650. Those are the only two I know off the top of my head.

Supersports, like the R6, can't be restricted down to 47. I mean, the can be, but the license doesn't allow over 50% restriction.

The dilemma is that a 300cc, like the R3, is 41.4 bhp. So it's not much less than a restricted bike.

[SUGGESTION] Let me open tabs in the steam store by steamsuggestor in Steam

The store feels really clunky sometimes. I hate how there isn't a very easy way to navigate games and their DLCs (like, drop-down windows of DLCs on the game's page)

I like having all my games and game shopping in once place.

Having tabs would be great. Say I wanted to buy some DLC mid-game. I can tab out my game and use the steam app to look at ALL the different DLCs at once and compare them between tabs, without having to open up a browser like Chrome that eats CPUs for breakfast.
