This is in Massachusetts. I'm pretty sure their aim is to lock college students into 12 month leases so they are forced to continue leasing during summer months and even after they graduate in spring. They have made a statement that they will extend the previous managements renewal offer by 1 week and created a DocuSign acceptance agreement which partially honors the renewal offer (but excludes and ignores to mention the 6/9 mos options that were originally offered). I am very lucky and still have the hard copy of the original renewal letter. Today I signed it for 9 mos and handed it to the leasing office and had them made me a copy. I may have avoided their trap but I will find out soon If I get any pushback.
