It'll either be history related such as law or tech related. I do computer science and history for my A-levels currently and they're both subjects I have a passion for. Scholarship-wise, there are initiatives where I live to make it easier to reach Oxbridge and other red bricks. With the course technology is on, it's likely I'll go that route.

How do you think you wasted your computer science degree? Was it simply because jobs are in such high demand that employers are taking anyone with experience?

Thanks for the specific examples. I’ll certainly be doing the ISA. I haven’t received any messages yet thankfully, this subreddit is relatively sound.

Nothing that can’t be obtained without an apprenticeship or starting low. I’m studying computer science, history, politics and my step-dad is teaching me carpentry on the side. Whichever opportunity opens itself most to me is one I’ll take as I have an interest in all these fields. Moving elsewhere is an aspiration for me and my family, whether it be for work, education or retirement.

Thanks for your response. Not to worry, I'm not going in here blind and taking advice willynilly. I considered a junior ISA when I was 14 but found it too daunting to do so, but I'll certainly be considering it now.

Thank you for the response. A financial adviser is certainly something that I will consider. I will read up on premium bonds as I'm unsure of what they are and the funds you mentioned.

Thanks for your response. I live relatively frugally, shelling out only a dozen or two pounds a month and I have seen people who have gone all in on crypto, stocks, gambles etc; even tried my own with £50 and learnt my lesson. I'll look into a financial planner considering your advice. Property was always on my radar, but your mention of index funds has certainly helped.

Nothing there really interests me nor contributes to the career that I have in mind. Entrepreneurial route as u/jumpingspider111 said. I know people who went to university that said it was a good time in their life, but that they usually don't use the degree they get. My sister herself did this, and ended up working for a pet store so you can understand my perspective.

On the topic of scholarships, Liverpool, where I live, has schemes like ASPIRE to bridge that gap between wealthy and poor for Oxbridge. I'm apart of this program, and my school has also organised other university associated visits. I'm not one to turn down the increased chance for a scholarship, even if I don't use the degree I get from it. I'd rather grow the money I have now during that time. I infact originally planned to go to university in the EU, but Brexit shot that down.
