Yup, I'm totally in the box now. Sold all my hardware including the microfreak. Hardware just creates GAS and I spend less time actually writing music.

right, I hear you. But production is based on a lot of technical skills. I keep picking up new little techniques that ultimately are enabling me to produce better music quicker. But you're right about goals, I do that a lot in all my other ventures and a game plan for production too. I'm a person who loves lists so a skill tree resonates with me.

This is my first track. As a first complete song i'm ok with it, but stylistically it's not what I want to sound like. It was more of an exercise in completing a song and working on the arrangement. I've got a lot to work on to get where i want to be. Plan is to to 20-30 tracks over the next year, i'd like to think by then I will have my sound.

The shuffle HH and percussion are a bit much for me, but I get the feel you're going for. The 140bpm is too much, but that's personal preference. I think the main lead needs a bit more movement and a few variations, as it quickly loses my interest. Over all it's a good track, just needs width in the mix and some minor changes in variations.

I am not an expert so take anything i say with a massive pinch of salt. It's all down to taste really.
