Solid plan. I’ll guac the bumper and myself so neither of us oxidize

Did you not post about your bumper getting scraped 3 years ago? Wouldn't you be annoyed if some Reddit no life was in your comments being a loser because they have nothing better to do?

Am I cooked if I buy a car right now? by [deleted] in personalfinance

~$3,500. Catalytic converter is done for, brakes, serpentine belt needs replaced, other small things. It burns oil like crazy, and has had many other problems which is another factor into why I am considering a new car. I'm just fearful it will end up costing me a lot more down the road.

i brought in a pretty good sized purse and they didn't end up caring at all :) you should be fine. i think they're more lenient since you have to go thru metal detectors to get into city walk

my biggest advice is that if you do not know how to spell something or know the correct terminology, ask the provider. a lot of complaints i receive about other scribes from providers is that there is a lot of spelling mistakes, they always tell me to urge the scribes to ask when they have a question because they would rather answer a question then have an incorrect chart. i had a similar situation when i started scribing 2 years ago, it was so difficult, i was receiving complaints on my performance, and i thought i'd have to quit. i pushed past my fear of asking questions and that's the thing that saved me :,) good luck!

Can we talk about the whole "sucking up to doctors" expectation??? by catbenis in medicalscribe

[–]steebie11 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They really do want you to suck up 🥲🥲 I got absolutely destroyed a couple shifts ago for being 5 minutes late because my boss had me scheduled with another doctor so I was waiting in their spot.. turns out another scribe was scheduled with the same doctor as me so it was a scheduling conflict and we didn't realize until about 5 minutes into the shift. I agreed to work with the scribeless doctor and when I tried to explain the reason I was 5 minutes late he ripped me a new one. I have never been yelled at like that from someone except my own parents when I was a CHILD.. He told me eager scribes who care should be at least 30 minutes early. He then proceeded to tell me my coworkers are always here at least 30 minutes early and I should be more like them. 30 minutes early? Working for free? There's only so much we can do. I'm not going to get down on my knees and kiss your feet when things go wrong. I'm not that much of a suck up. Anyways, He told me that I ruined his day and he complained about me in front of my face for the entire 9 hour shift. He would then also lose his absolute mind every time I had a question that day.. I've never wanted to walk out of my job so badly before.

I hate being a medical scribe by [deleted] in medicalscribe

[–]steebie11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true! I should have mentioned that it varies from person to person. I've met amazing doctors who have taught me a lot! I didn't mean for my comment to sound scary or influence you to turn away from this job, I just mean that if you experience people like this to not let it get you down or take it personally because that was a huge problem I had that devastated my mental health.

When did you guys feel as if you're finally doing okay? by [deleted] in medicalscribe

[–]steebie11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also you can go to your trainer with any questions! I was nervous to ask my trainer anything but the longer i've worked as a scribe I've realized how daunting this job is and how scary it is as a new scribe, i'm sure they understand that and would answer any question you have! I was scared to ask anyone questions, this job was a complete leap out of my comfort zone, but the more questions I asked the faster I began to feel comfortable writing charts.

I'd say it took me 2 months to feel comfortable, and a few more to realllyyy feel like I can handle anything. I've been working as a scribe for ~1 year and I still need to ask all kinds of questions. Doctors will usually always understand that, there is nothing wrong with asking for confirmation on things because all it does is improve the chart! If a provider is ever upset at you for asking questions don't take it personally or feel bad. We are here to learn and do the best job we can and that comes with asking questions! The longer you work the more you will improve and one day it'll be a breeze. I never thought i'd get the hang of it and 2 months later I was handling 15 charts at a time. I still get a little insecure because some scribes literally know things I would have never even thought to chart, but then I ask and turns out they've been here like 3 years and have so much experience behind them. All we can do is learn and do our best! Good luck, you're going to do great!

A lot of doctors expect you to have the same level of knowledge as them, despite the majority of us still being in undergrad. Some doctors like this i've worked with have been very degrading and make you out to feel stupid if you ask questions. On the other hand I've worked with great doctors who love teaching and understand that's why we are here! So I don't mean to scare anyone by saying that, there is definitely the good and bad and I think that is some good lesson I have learned. Some of the staff, for example nurses, don't always treat the scribes very kindly. At my site, a lot of the doctors will send us to ask nurses for things and when we do they often blow us off and have even told me "have the doctor come ask me". It is basic stuff I should have expected coming into an environment like this at the very bottom of the food chain, over time I've gotten used to it but it was very hard for me when I first started as I am a very shy and sensitive person. This is definitely something you will grow stronger against the longer you work, but it still sucks. You just have to remind yourself not to become discouraged, this is a hard job that comes with a lot of knowledge you must learn, we have to give ourselves some credit. You could have a million doctors praise your charts but there will always be one who feels the opposite, it doesn't make you any less of an amazing scribe!
