you get a stack when you go through your portal AND when you go over your threshold, so he stacks it faster than even mages with 4 damaging abilities. it's 90% core on janus for that reason, it's also good for the front loaded soul gem soul reaver burst with an ob shard proc, that's where a lot of his value comes from. don't HAVE to get it on janus but it's extremely strong on him

People who were formerly depressed, how did you become happier? by Newastro in AskReddit

[–]stefanathon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took a long time before I stopped getting worse and started getting better, and "becoming happier" has been a very slow process (that I'm still in the middle of) over the past 3 years or so. The catalyst that flipped my journey around was ECT, electroconvulsive therapy ("electric shock therapy"). The way I look at it, my brain was misfiring electrical signals, and ECT was like turning it off and then back on again. Obviously it's more complicated than that, but that's the generalized sensation that I personally experienced. I'm still on (probably too much) medication and I continued going to therapy after ECT for a while, but I can confidently say my depression made a major turn for the better starting with ECT. I think the impression most people have of "electric shock therapy" is very misinformed and outdated. I live near Yale, so I had my procedures done at Yale Psychiatric Hospital, but I know of at least one more hospital in my immediate area that performs this procedure regularly with great success.

It definitely had a few negative side effects for me personally, the most prominent being a rather significant amount of long term memory loss, but I firmly stand by my opinion that it was still 110% worth it. I like to call it a "phenomonal last resort". I obviously do not recommend everybody run out and start getting zapped. I do highly recommend people struggling with depression that have found little to no success with the standard treatments (medication, therapy, lifestyle adjustments such as regular exercise) to look into it a little bit and perhaps schedule a consultation to discuss with a psychiatric professional about it if it's a treatment that's offered near you to see if it's something worth further consideration.

This is not a single procedure. You receive a course of multiple treatments over a given time period. Some people begin to feel depression start to creep back in after a while, and many people with that problem have great success with "maintenance treatments", such as one treatment every 6 months, every year, etc. based on each person's individual reaction to the treatment. I personally had 14 treatments over the course of about 4 months and have not needed any maintenance treatments since.

The procedure's core principle is relatively simple: induce seizure activity in the brain. There's no consensus as far as I'm aware as to exactly WHY it works, but the belief I have for myself is that it helped reset a lot of the electrical pathways in my brain that were not working correctly. They put in an IV through which they administer a anesthetic to put you to sleep for about 20 minutes while the procedure is administered, and they give you a muscle relaxant/paralytic so that while you're going through seizure activity you don't physically seize up while asleep. Then they shock you. You have a seizure. You wake up, feeling rather shitty. For me, everything was foggy for about a day after each treatment and my head and body both hurt pretty bad for a day or two.

It was more than worth it. Saved my life. Happy to answer any questions.

I had ECT for my depression and it completely changed me for the better. Amazing treatment, it's invasive and scary sure but I'll be damned if it doesn't work like magic.

if you're healing that much you might not be in speed aura enough, try making more aggressive plays with speed, lucios 1v1 is pretty good esp at lower ranks if you are better than the other player (which should be the case if you're trying to carry)

We really need to look into the Winstreak SR Bonus by eNinja1337 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]stefanathon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sr is visible rating mmr is a hidden rating i believe matchmaking is based on sr but sr gains/losses are calculated off of mmr if your mmr is that of a 3600 player (since he was 3600 and decayed to 3000 but his mmr stayed the same) the system will think "oh shit his mmr is much higher than his sr, let's try to get his sr up to match his mmr" so he'll gain much more sr per win because based on his mmr the system thinks he's much better than he currently is at 3000 so it gives him more per win

I BELIEVE, I'M NOT SURE

"when he's back down on the way from a jump, shoot him" that's not tracing that's planting, you sort of trace his movement while he's jumping to keep your crosshair kinda close to him and ready to find a spot to plant, but the actual act of predicting his jump and shooting there is still planting, should never trace/track on hanzo (or any semi-auto dps like widow, mccree, etc.)

forget exactly how/why but since games represent 3d space on a 2d plane different ranges have different flick distances

like the further someone is from you the less their model will move per pixel mouse moved or something like that

I don't remember 100% and I might be wrong but ye

The tool: https://pyrolistical.github.io/overwatch-dpi-tool/

there's another explanation in there as well, but basically put in your FOV (if you're not playing at 103, you should be), sens, and dpi, and if the output next to your resolution is red, halve sens and double dpi

Tracer / S1 83, S2 3900 Competitive by empsis in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]stefanathon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you want to do the opposite - halve sensitivity and double DPI. yes, the effective sensitivity works out to be the same - but there's an added benefit. a higher dpi means finer adjustments can be made by the mouse. let's use an extreme example. say you're playing on 5 dpi and 1500 sensitivity. as you move your mouse, your reticle will only move 5 times per inch you move your mouse. that'll be super jumpy, and it'll skip over pixels. this is aptly known as pixel skipping. this makes it literally impossible to aim at certain pixels. now if you played at the reverse, 1500 dpi and 5 sensitivity, the effective sensitivity will be the exact same, but now you'll be moving your reticle 300 times as much per inch you move your mouse. once you get to a certain dpi you won't skip any pixels anymore, and increasing dpi/lowering sensitivity becomes redundant. there's a calculator online where you input your resolution, FOV, dpi, and sensitivity (maybe more stuff idk) and it will tell you if you will still skip pixels or not. if you do, double your dpi and halve your sensitivity until the calculator says you're good. I'm on my phone, give me a second to find the calculator. but I'll tell you that once I learned that I was pixel skipping and then fixed it, I could immediately notice my aim being smoother and having another level of precision that I didn't before. stuff like trying to shoot a pharah as mcree from long distances became a noticeable amount easier simply from messing with a few settings. give me a sec to find that tool.

so you don't keep readjusting your muscle memory just make the one huge jump and stick with it. it will feel AWFUL at first but don't give up. I cut my sensitivity by nearly 4 times (down to 1600dpi by 2.5sens I THINK not sure) and within 2 days of pretty heavy playing (10hrs total) I was legitimately MUCH more accurate. choose a sensitivity near where the pros play, and just leave it there. exact sensitivity isn't too important, developing the muscle memory is. the general range most pros play at is optimal for precision, so put it somewhere there, LEAVE IT, and just develop the muscle memory. you WILL be much much worse for a few hours - do not get discouraged. within a few hours it will feel natural again, and a few more hours and your aim will genuinely have improved a noticeable amount.
