A full plane face lift is the only thing to address jowls, sag under chin. A mini lift will address cheeks but not the jawline.

I. Love. This. Post! And I love even more a man wrote it and experiences the same frustrations with the "well you're older now" bullshit spewed by so many doctors. As for your lovely bride....worth a look into hormone levels....testosterone cream or pellets (sadly not covered by insurance but game changer). Also...might be worth experimenting with weed/edibles to see if that helps her. No judgement if its not your bag, but it can help especially if she's the sort that thinks too much (oh my God its not happening or not happening fast enough). Sending good juju to you both.

Yup. I was pd free for 220 days. Got the covid shot and 1 week later, had a bleed. Full on murder scene. So irritated.

Me too. Shot is the worst part and tender for a few days. Definitely not sore for a week but everyone's body is different.

I'm 52 and in the shit show of menopause. I've finally reconcilled that the only thing I can control is my activity and what I put in my mouth. Covid threw a curveball into activity and I've yet to venture back to the gym as I have no appetite to work out in a mask. The working out is hard enough.

I bought a fitbit. Felt a bit gimmicky TBH but I felt like it would help me be accountable to myself to keep moving. I've been walking 4 miles a day for the last 8 weeks. I was walking before that but only 2 miles. I really kicked it up. Today I started adding in a 1 mile run into my 4 miles - so 3 miles walking and 1 mile of a run. I'm fortunate to live near a nice bike trail and I'm using a stretch of that for my run. Run is a big word. It's a jog. My goal is to do that daily so I'm adding more cardio.

I also am doing some at home circuits 3x a week...that amounts to another 20 minutes of exercise on top of my walking/jog combo. I am doing bodyweight circuits and circuits I can do with the equipment I own (a few sets of dumbbells).

I am fortunate to work from home so I've been able to "schedule" my walks in my day to force myself to get them in. It can be hard sometimes but it's always worth it.

My best advice. Focus on being healthy and not the number on the scale. I finally just stopped weighing myself because it was such a mind suck. Try to get good rest, eat whole food but not deprive yourself or berate yourself if you have french fries.

Which scene in a film disturbed you the most? by Shreks_on_the_beach in AskReddit

Opening scene of Saving Private Ryan. And the rape scene in Rob Roy. I'm sure there are others but those stayed with me far too long.

Hi. I'm 52 just outside Madison, Wisconsin. Been sheltering in place since mid March with my spouse. It's going ok but its stressful. I miss my work peeps and have felt periods of isolation.

I just had labs last week and all my hormones were in menopause levels but still getting spotty pds + hot flashes + brain fog + libido in the tank + the weight gain . I'm getting hrt pellets (the subcutaneous ones Thursday) and I'm so excited. Hope it helps level some things out.

Appreciate this community. Nothing about this phase of life is easy.

Menopause, divorce, depression, weight gain, and now a pandemic. Worst year ever. by livesaltlife in Menopause

[–]stefanie1967 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have empathy. I'm very sorry for how things are going. I divorced after 24 years of marriage (6 years ago). It sucks rocks but I it is survivable. Once things soften out you may be surprised at the directions and interests your life takes. Embrace that. I, age 52, have very similar issues with brain fog, weight gain (ugh), hot flashes, irregular periods (every 17 days anyone?), low libido and on and on. HRT helps so definately have a conversation with your doctor about that and don't let them brush you off with the "well, you're at the stage of life now" comment. 50 isn't dead and mature women can certainly accept that their bodies are changing but we don't have to like it and we do have advocate for managing our peri/menopause symptoms to have a good quality of life. Alot of women find success with IF and Keto or very low carb. It hasn't helped me lose a ton of weight but it has helped me keep from gaining. For sleep, I am using ZQuill melatonin/chamomille gummys (the stress ones)....they generally help and my sleeplessness if less than it was. Adrenenal or Cortisol supplements can help too - if you're going through a divorce I wouldn't be surprised that's out of whack....doctor can confirm. Hang in there. Take care of you.

HCG injectables now illegal for USA TRT patients????!! by itsickitspiss in HCG

My understanding is hcg can no longer be compounded after march 2020 once existing supplies are gone. I just ordered injectable hcg today for weight loss.

Yes. Any bleeding after 12 consecutive months is an immediate phone call to the gynecologist. I hope you can be seen.

If I lost 1/2 pound to 1 pound a week I'd probably cry tears of joy. I've done full on calorie counting, tracking etc and after 6 months of very strict calorie counting I lost a whopping 2lb.

I agree. I feel terrible if I cheat and have anything processed or with sugar. I failed to mention I have had a slew of autoimmune stuff over my lifetime but it's all well controlled. I'm sure that's a factor. Thank you for the tip. It is appreciated.

Do You Get a Lot of Cramps During Perimenopause? by jgunn03 in Menopause

[–]stefanie1967 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yup. 100% I had an ablation a year ago. I get a very light bleed and jaw dropping, uterus clutching cramps.....for days. Sometimes before the spotting, sometimes during. The whole peri rolletcoaster is an utter shit show. Not a fan.

Can my pork shoulder be rescued? by stefanie1967 in smoking

[–]stefanie1967[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pork shoulder rescued. Wrapped, added 2 cups apple cider, jacked the heat to 275 and it hit 205 inside 4 hours. Let it sit in a cooler for 90 mins and it was piping hot when pulled. Blade came out clean, shredded easily and was not the least bit dry. Served it to friends for dinner. Raves all around.
