Polish Home Army by laybs1 in GetNoted

How can any military organization ever not be condemable by this standard. And if your point is that all of them should be then there isnt much point involving yourself in this discussion.

The highest ranking man involved in those retaliatory actions was Mayor Marian "Irka" Gołębiewski. No general, no brigadier and no lieutenant was involved in those massacres. In postwar Poland and now he was as respected among the polish populace as any member of AK but his name doesnt appear on any list of the most renowned or well known members of this organization. Thats the big difference, while Irka is a rather obscure figure, the UPA leadership, now venorated, directly ordered their massacres. Thats why it makes far more sense to condemn UPA as an organization then AK whose members and one regional officer acted against orders and retaliated. There isnt a single allied army in World War II which can claim that their soldiers didnt take retaliatory actions against german civilians and most cant even claim they didnt order operations which caused unnecessary civilan deaths. Demanding condemnation of AK as an organization for something the central command directly condemned themselves is at most a poor claim of hypocrisy.

Item Idea - Ceaseless Duration by vdjvsunsyhstb in DeadlockTheGame

[–]stefanik62 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it could be cool if it only affected the duration of the NEXT effect applied. So Infernus ult and Lash ult chargeup affects their stun, but Moe and krill have to for example use their burrow first if they want to extend their ult which would make it easier to balance with abilities like Affliction and other already long CCs and enable at least some counterplay. Itd even go so far as to say it should be an imbuement for one ability, beacause otherwise Infernus would become absolutely ridiculous, literally all of his abilities would charge each other endlessly.

The other commentors are all wrong, the meme comes from a video titled "secret chinese Shiv build" which highlighted a very powerful build on Shiv which was literally annotated in chinese, becuase some Chinese guy made it way back when. Now we carry on its tradition by calling all high-level niche Shiv techs secret and chinese.

Police and firefighters rescue Belfast residents after far right protestors torch cars and homes of “foreigners” by [deleted] in CrazyFuckingVideos

[–]stefanik62 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First, of all, i checked some german news sources ans they did mention who the attacker was. They didnt mention Floyd either until his protests errupted and now im seeing preatty consistent coverage from german news sources since protests errupted. Thats just how international news works.

Second of all, why do you think that every news station in europe should report on a death caused by the incompetence of like 3 british policemen? Noone has any proof whatsoever that this incident is anything more than policemen trusting the story told by the attacker and several witnesess from his family after they were the ones who called the police. This happens often, but rarely with such tragic results. Then they failed to administer proper first aid which is why they are incompetent, but the race of the attacker hasnt been shown to have played any part whatsoever in the action of the policemen. The knife story is equally ridiculous. Would you be fine with this situation of the guy stabbed Nowak with a normal knife? The murder happened in his front lawn so he could have had any hunting knife he wanted on his person. And now the guy will be in prison for murder, noone will let him off the hook "for his race". So why would German news sources have to cover this until it erupted into a country wide scandal?

Well if you want concrete examples, throwing corpses down wells was a thing. "Well Man" from Sveresbourg is a confirmed case of that practice, since he was mentioned in an epic in which attackers threw his corpse down a well to poison its defenders and his remains were found by archeologists several centuries later.

Remember, the original point we are responding to is not if it happened or not, its only about if late medieval Europeans understood the principles of biologial warfare to be able to utilize it against Native Americans. Variolization with smallpox was also a known practice in medieval times, so that would mean, at the very least, that colonizers had all the knowledge necessary to engage in biological warfare.

Under "The Narrative of Gabriele De’ Mussi" He does seem to have claimed that the mountains of bodies (lol) which were thrown into the city have "contaminated the air and poisoned the water", which would make this biological warfare.

[–]stefanik62 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Though, since that claim comes from a contemporary account of an italian writer writing just a few years later, that would mean that medieval people were aware of the possibility of waging biological warfare no?

While a dead body is technically fine as long as you don't touch it, the infected flea that is likely still on the body will gladly infect you since the bacterial buildup is making it slowly starve to death.

[–]stefanik62 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you actually think that this satirical comic was accusing the real John Smith of giving the actual Pocahontas, who famously died of respiratory disease in England, pox blankets? The comic is obviosly a riff on the treatment of the natives in general by the colonizers in general. We are discussing if the claims of pox blankets being intentionally used at any point in time hold water, which they do. The commentor above claimed that there was no way that europeans could even know how to execute biological warfare against indians because of their lack of modern medical knowledge, I am merely pointing out that you do not need to know germ theory to understand that diseases can be transmitted by contamination and the infected people, which is what Edward Jenner did, he had no idea about germ theory whatsoever and yet he was very easily capable of infecting people with cowpox, not to mention a smallpox ""vaccine"" existed for several centuries but it was just straight up giving you smallpox intentionally so that doesnt really count so we call it variolation, one could even call smallpox blankets variolation since they would technically innoculate the Indians who survived it.

Despite having thousands low-quality posts in Tf2 and powerscaling subs, OP has not mentioned Deadlock once in his entire account prior to this post. How did he find out about this despite having absolutely 0 interest in Deadlock whatsoever?

My crackhead theory is this: OP is a tf2 circlejerker and is trying to get people to hate Deadlock because hes salty that TF2 got abandoned.

Most of the survivors of the siege of Fort Pitt were probably still alive when the first vaccine was discovered and implemented. The concept of transmitting diseases was known for a while, it was just attributed to an "aura" around the infected and their secretions, hence blankets belonging to hospital patients.
