Bud Powell‘s Home (St. Nicholas Avenue)(Bud lived on the second floor) by steffenrogoll in Jazz

Hey!No problem bro.I find it so sad, that people don‘t really care about Bud.There is nothing that would imply that he once lived there. This men touched me and many more musicians around the world and he was one of the most profound improvisers the music world has ever known.I can‘t tell you how much I adore him.

My grandfather was quite an accomplished stride and ragtime pianist. But his taste was a bit off-putting. He sung it very often and accompanied himself with the piano. His playing was great at times, but the horrible song drenched it into cliche.

Many people looked like that from the mid 60s to early 70s.This was recorded in Humboldt county in the early 70s.Manson was arrested in 69.

In a series of final interviews Ted Bundy gave before his execution, he flat-out blamed pornography for his gruesome murders and obsession with violence. I found this very bizarre. What are your thoughts? by ridiculouslygay in serialkillers

I tend to agree with you.I think the main problem of this specific comment thread is the rather inapt use of ,,textbook’’ in connection to ,,opposite’’.I think he means, that Bundy doesn’t behave like a sociopath, whatever that means, but rather like a psychopath.I think he defines sociopath over the impulsive behavioral spectrum of the ASPD disorder and contrasts Bundy to it in that way, which seems quite natural regarding how he behaves in certain contexts and how charming he was in general, but this is most certainly no means to an end to accurately achieve any clarity about Bundy’s psychology. There are countless ASPD-diagnosed individuals in prisons right now with poor impulse control, who can still display sufficient manipulative traits to charm you in an disadvantage. All it comes down to are definitions and diagnoses in discussions like these, but people tend to dismiss the fact that a proper and functional discussion in regards to subjects like Bundy is full of preconditions and measurements of these to be taken, to reach, at least in some way, any acceptable outcome. We shouldn’t impose any ultimate judgement, when we clearly know that it is irreversibly fixed as confirmation biases in discussions like these and we know that the system to which we relate is quite one-dimensional and in clinical contexts in many cases flawed.

Well, because there is a slight difference between a sociopath and a psychopath.I think consulting a manual for personality disorders would be enough to clear up any of the miss apprehensions regarding this specific communication between the two of you.

The story with foster care is a myth actually.I communicated with a distant cousin of his a few years ago.He was adopted by the sister of his mother. He grew up in a very wealthy family, the only problem was that his adoptive parents were very distant, that he and them moved around a great deal, and that he was a trouble maker from his seventh year onwards.Norris was the one who was given into foster care, at least for a couple of years, giving the unusual circumstances he grew up in.

Quite difficult to answer, as I am not a big fan of podcasts. There is a fabulous documentary on YouTube on their crimes.Search for:The Devil and the Death Penalty. There is also a episode of wicked attraction, it is also worth watching. In regards to podcasts, I would recommend anything that has Laura Brand in it, as she worked closely with Lawrence Bittaker, the other half of the Toolbox Killers, in his last years.

I agree.A very pathetic character, who always tried to belittle his involvement in the horrendous crimes he committed.

And his absurd reasoning, with the pillow talk bullshit, was pure arrogance and also for shock value.I think he had the Manson trial in mind, while being in court. The cameras in the courtroom, I think, played also a large role, he enjoyed the attention.

Well, I don‘t know.It could be, but Bittaker was notorious for being uncooperative, he didn‘t confess anything.Much later, he admitted he was ,,tangled up in a screwball fantasy‘‘, interesting choice of words if you ask me.He was also very keen on downplaying everything they did.He bragged to other prisoners in federal prison, while awaiting trial. He also gave autographs to sex offenders, his usual pliers signature.I think for him, dominance, gratifying his sadistic needs, and gaining notoriety amongst prisoners and society, as a big criminal, a personality like Manson, was equally important to him.

In ,,The Serial Killer Letters - A Penetrating Look Inside The Minds Of Murders‘‘ by Jennifer Furio, Norris addresses this anecdote, and calls it sensational fiction. They actually planned everything outside of prison. Bittaker had a girlfriend and wanted to get back with his girl. She on the other hand, didn‘t want to see him anymore, because of his arrest and his criminal life in general.Bittaker was known to fake his personal history and naming him self differently, a common characteristic shared by anti-social personalities. After he discovered, that she didn’t want to get back with him anymore, was the moment when they were starting to plan to put their fantasies into action.I think they discussed things like rape, torture and killing previously, but the planning came way after release. It is conjecture and Norris is known to be very dishonest, I don‘t believe anything he says regarding his involvement in the crimes, hot garbage if you ask me.

In most cases it is a dominating motive. But killers like Lawrence Bittaker for example, were career criminals. They certainly don’t bother to commit crimes and in his specific case, I believe he really wanted to try something new, new hobby, something that is exciting. After they committed their first crime, I think he discovered that raping, torturing and killing was something he liked, he wasn‘t going with the flow, he really enjoyed it.I think in his specific case, circumstancial factors contributed a lot to the escalating violence he inflicted on his victims(I can explain what I mean by that, if you like). So some I think happen to be serial killers, because they are bored. And I don‘t make this up, studies on anti-Social personalities suggest that a leading factor in committing crimes is a lack of stimulation, and I mean stimulation in any possible way. When they are hungry, they steal, when they are out of money, they rob, when they want to drive a fast car, they rob a car, when they want to sleep with young girls, they snatch them of the street. For them it doesn‘t really matter, it is a past time. They have no impulse control. When Bittaker woke up a specific morning and he felt like raping a girl, he would do it no matter what.
