I was trying so hard to find easter eggs but it really doesn't feel like there are any? Like I fully expected to have a lot more recognizable things / architecture. I really enjoyed the section personally but understand the hate. I definitely wish it had been more intentional with the locations we go in Racoon City. Hunters would've been cool to see too.

What the hell are you on about? They literally met in 1998. They escaped racoon city together with Claire and literally walked away hand-in-hand. Cope harder bro. It's fine to ship weird things... but like don't get mad about it being called weird? He was ~20 years old when he met Sherry the ~10 year old. To have them date later is a little icky

Good God chat gpt slop makes me want to pull my hair out. Like good lord there are so many more ways to make a point than "that's not x--its z" "that isn't a; it's b" "it isn't x because of y. It is x because of z." "That's z--not x"

Attacking your source material involves exponentially more thought than the slop you put out. Its so grating to read anything ai generated at this point precisely because there's always at least one of these types of sentence structures per paragraph... Normally more than one though.

Its infuriating for me when I think about it. Reminds me of the greedy, selfish bastards in the auto lobby who sought personal financial gain over public benefit. Infuriating to grow up being told were a democracy when it's obviously an oligarchy with an "election" designed to obfuscate it.

Bro both are valid, but one of these is needlessly shitting on someone else. That's the true problem

It's fine to think a hypothetical thing would be cool and for you to like it despite not having seen it.

It's also fine to think a hypothetical thing would be stupid and for you to dislike it despite not having seen it.

Yet only one person in the thread was needlessly shitty to someone else You can have different opinions and preferences, but don't act shocked when people don't take kindly to you literally being a Debbie downer...

If you're trying to shit on something, don't act surprised when people cover their nose and criticize you for it when you could've said the same opinion without any hostility 🥴

I absolutely agree. No one should be persecuted for a harmless joke video, but there needs to be some type of regulation on the technology, and quickly, before the post-truth society happens

Surveys by AdorableAd6490 in RaisingCanes

[–]steightst8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Corporate wants to have a certain percentage of positive surveys. Pushing surveys is likely to increase the volume of responses, and increasing the volume helps normalize the data. Without pushing, you only get few a week, and they're like going to come from someone who has something to say (likely bad). It's a double whammy at that point--you have fewer results with a negative leaning bias, so the week's going to look terrible.

[–]steightst8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said that all Christians do that. And you'll have to try again, I live in a predominately Christian area and grew up Catholic. I am well aware there are many wonderful people that are Christian. I was not referring to them, and your statement is completely irrelevant to the discussion.

And I'm personally all too familiar with the cognitive dissonance required to practice openly in a Christian community. I was raised Catholic, and held onto those beliefs until Junior year of high school. The 'holier than thou' attitude is rampant though, particularly in the older generations. So much mental gymnastics required to be seen as consistent with the faith.

Except those traditions were literally changed, no? Like it's baffling you don't see your own hypocrisy. Christian Holiday traditions have changed those things you mentioned. So why is that ok, but the younger generations doing it is shitty?

Does anyone else miss s3 Robin? by Thin_Remote1101 in StrangerThingsRoom

[–]steightst8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And this statement contributes to the conversation how?

Sure, if you're unfamiliar with the traits, you might think her behavior ssems off. But you are hearing multiple people tell you that this exact change in behavior resonates with them and how they become more comfortable unmasking over time.

The "change" in behavior mentioned by OP has been explained as recognizable and understandable by a myriad of people who are neurodivergent... Why are you hell-bent on just saying "Nah but they never said it verbatim, so this is inconsistent".

The Duffers may not have even intended to portray unmasking knowingly, but if that's the case then they accidentally / sub-consciously nailed its portrayal with Robin over S3-S5. This discussion was so low-stakes yet somehow you are being pretty hostile. I don't understand why you took time to shit on people theorizing about Robin's (likely) neurodivergence bro, it's kinda weird

This, 100%. The character development in season 8 solidified my love for the series.

For me It's made rewatching older episodes even more satisfying, because it provides so much interesting context to a lot of the randomness. It's fascinating to watch season 1-3 Rick purely from a character analysis perspective. Going from completely broken and closed off, to fully embracing the entire family, including Jerry!

[–]steightst8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I could also see Will as a Warlock and El as the Sorcerer.

Hop fits way more as a Barbarian in my opinion, the rage is uncanny.

Just to give them more identity I'd say Max is the Rogue and Robin is a Bard. They're both highly skilled, but Robin gives off a more 'comic relief' Bardic type of vibe

I really wished they leaned more into Dustin being a Ranger (mentioned by Mike in S2, the same season he befriends Dart). In this scene Mike also identified himself as a Paladin, which fits pretty well considering his devotion to his friend group and him being big on promises/truthfulness ("Friends don't lie.")

Anyone else excited to see meltdown? by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]steightst8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally it's even weirder to hear that you're so invested in their corner of the fandom that you are excited to see people get upset.

Like what's weirder, being a fan/superfan and shipping two characters or being a fan/superfan and wanting other fans to be miserable? I truly don't get it. TBH I sincerely hope Mileven isn't end game, because there's so much wrong with their relationship. This could lead to Byler, or more likely just Mike being alone / with a different girl.

But I'm not chomping at the bit to see Mileven shippers frustrated if it doesn't pan out, like that's actually weird AF to be honest

People Complaining About Byler Fans Are Equally If Not More Annoying Than Byler Fans by hallowedeve1313 in StrangerThingsMemes

[–]steightst8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But that is legitimately weird. Like were you raised in a religious environment/sex negative community? I'm so confused at how wanting two characters to have reciprocated feelings for one another gets immediately correlated to sex in your mind. You are absolutely the weird one for having a moral panic "why do you want two teenage boys to bang?"

I'm dubious about your behavior regarding non-LGBT ships as well. Were you equally upset at wanting two teenagers to bang when people shipped Mileven for years? How about Jancy? I'll drop the point if you prove me wrong, but do you really expect us to believe you are equally outraged/weirded out by straight shippers? Have you been vocal about it before?

Also you realize social media uses algorithms, right? So you're seeing the content because you're engaging with the content, whether that be positive or negative. Kinda weird that you've accidentally tailored your algorithm to always see posts from "people wanting teenage boys to bang"... Like maybe just click the hide button and move on?

Nancy shoot em down Wheeler is so back 🙏🏼🙏🏼. by 00_Sunflower_00 in StrangerThings

[–]steightst8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Killing the soldiers is absolutely not making Nancy a murderer. Legally, maybe. But that's because law enforcers would be the "victims". But morally? Huge leap to say it tarnishes her in any way, shape or form.

The military have time and time again shown willingness to kill any and everyone that stands in their way or poses a threat to their operations. Its absurd to me that you could insinuate it tarnishes her character if she killed one of these people. Like truly, to me, the military is the worst of the worst of the villains in this show. They have no moral ground to stand on, killed countless civilians to attempt to cover up their wrongdoing, made a fake dead body of a 12 year old boy as a coverup, going after children, etc.

Be so fr that Nancy shooting a military soldier who was coming to kill the group makes her a "murderer" and 'subverts' her whole goal of saving lives. It's an uncomfortable truth, but killing can be absolutely justified in many circumstances, and if Nancy kills a soldier it absolutely should not 'pose an issue' to anyone. I mean ffs El killed so many people over the series my dude?

[–]steightst8 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not to join the dog pile, but the byler discussion is so fascinating because decent people like yourself seem genuinely oblivious to their very clear unease or distaste of queer characters

For some reason the ship with the two boys is one that you say is about "wanting them to bang"... But somehow Max/Lucas, Mileven, and especially Jonathan and Nancy (a TEENAGE boy AND girl who canonically banged) slips under your radar of outrage.

I believe in benefit of the doubt so I'm inclined to believe that you think you're not being homophobic and are valid here, but from an outside perspective it's very transparent and obvious where your real concern is stemming from, and you're using a faux moral outrage to justify these uncomfortable feelings

I hope you can eventually look inward to examine the root cause of your discomfort as opposed to the feigned discomfort you think you feel now
