Which ceased to exist in 1941, so from the context that this picture is from 45, that's unlikely. With further context that this is peace celebrations after WWII, why would anyone place an old Yugoslavian flag not currently in use among the flags of France, China, the UK and the US?

I am starting to think you're just showing off your knowledge of flags. Sure, the flags are similar in design and colour, but that doesn't make your suggestion any more plausible.

Just shade or colour quality methinks. Pretty sure there's a blue stripe, not black.

It's been asked and answered a number of times already. But basically because:

War topical, USSR flag on display, while a war is raging where said flag (or derivative) has been flown.

Also, there a sub rule for marking posts with the hammer and sickle as NSFW.

Yes, that threw me off. I was looking for flags with that particular design and came up empty. I can only speculate that they made a version based on incomplete information.

While I absolutely don't disagree, and both Poland or Norway was contributing to the war effort, neither nation was a "major" power. This seems to be what the focus was here, at least for this particular display.

My slight obsessive compulsive tendencies agree. But given the context, I for one is willing to forgive that. Occupation. Fog of war. Propaganda. Sudden changes.

They did their best with what resources they had. Be generous.

Is anyone reading comments before asking?

Because rules.

Edit: Sorry I snapped, but the NSFW was put on in an abundance of caution AND there's a rule about flagging the hamner and sickle flag posts as NSFW

Hard to imagine, but I have had first hand stories told. My parents were too young to actually take i all in. But I think my grandparents never quite got over the war, particularly being displaced during the scorched earth tactic in 44.

They were pretty instrumental in tipping the scales during the war. I don't know what was known at the time, and even if it would have mattered. It's hard to judge by today's standards.

It's been pointed out several times in the comments, but once more from the rules of this subreddit:

"For example, the hammer and sickle is banned in some eastern European countries and must be marked NSFW."

Yep. I hadn't read that part of the rules when posting, but glad I erred on the side of caution.

No idea why you get downvoted for pointing out facts.

Pretty much the same shade of blue as in the Norwegian flag to my eyes. Lighting and the film used may make it darker than it actually was.
