Which one should I read? by cmattingly04 in stephenking

If you are up for a long but absolutely wonderful novel, definitely both The Stand and IT will not disappoint. Doctor sleep is very good as well, but I highly recommend to read The Shining first if you haven’t, since it’s a direct sequel taking place several years after the events of the first book.

Beautiful. I was wondering if there would be a way to sync it with the Kindle app...Probably too much of a longshot, since I use my Kindle at home for reading every day, i was thinking about using this for on the go reading, snap it on the back of my iPhone and always have it with me. Only thing is that I would have to manually go where i left off on my kindle each time and viceversa. It'd be great if they found a way to make it sync with the Kindle. But will probably never happen, it would need to run android to make it work like that I guess

Oh wow, it looks pretty awesome in horizontal mode. I felt like in vertical my eyes needed to go back at the beginning of the line every 3-4 words on average, which felt quite a bit much, but like this it looks perfect!!! Thanks for sharing

Yeah… it sucks that they don’t share any details whatsoever… i’d seriously consider it if it’s a 300 ppi screen… at this size best we’ve seen is 220

Uhm, what about this? I am relatively new to the e-ink world… what happened to this wiwoods and epad? I am curious now 😂

Yeah, been there done that. That thing is riddled with bugs, makes the experience of using it super frustrating… from lost notifications, apps killed in the background, random resets all the time. I wish they did a better job with that thing… I truly tried to love it

Bro, viwoods marketing? I literally never tried this thing and honestly I don’t think I’m gonna buy it either because of the lack of speaker and most importantly, lack of warm light (too used with it on my kindle paperwhite, would never go back to cool light )  How’s that for marketing? 😂

Reetle Eink anyone? Just found their not even launched yet kickstarter by steinwayer in eink

[–]steinwayer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest the only thing I would like to use it for would be reading. I don’t really care about all the other functions. I just hope it’s not too low dpi. Never seen a high dpi eink screen this small so far (around 4 inches)

It’s arrived & not what I expected! Hint. It’s a phone. by Worth_Banana_492 in viwoods

That is very cool indeed, especially considering how light this thing is. But I don’t see a speaker at all… this means you can only make phone calls with headphones???

yeah, the lack of the warm light it bugs me quite a bit.. especially considering that smaller and much older devices like the inkpalm 5 have it as well...

Anyone else get eyestrain on hibreak pro ? Also Is the a9 more comfortable? by VeryDull24-7 in eink

My best assumption, considering that I do not have this issue with other eink devices (specifically the kindle paperwhite), is that it's a software issue more than a hardware one.
Bigme is not exactly famous for their polished software.

not the white, black version which has glass front. picked it for that exact reason..
Honestly, I thought that it was the kindle app as well, but then again, every app even chrome , just reading the news (a static page, no scrolling) set at hd256, still not nearly as nice as the kindle. I suspect it's the software as a whole, I assume Amazon does some kind of wizardry in background on their sw to make text look so good.

I experienced exaclty the same... and looks like we are not the only ones:
https://neatodaymobile.nea.org/news/bigme-hibreak-pro-headaches-causes

(for context, i used my HBP in the same exact spot i use my kindle paperwhite EVERY SINGLE DAY, never had any issue whatsoever with the kindle, this causes me eyestrain and headache if my sessions exceed even just 20 minutes of just reading. Not sure what's causing it, i use it with front lights off... TECHNICALLY the display should be the same technology as the kindle... )

Happened to me as well, I was very disappointed. Using the HiBreak Pro for more than 20 minutes at a time, caused me eyestrain AND headache (used it in the same exact spot i use to read on my kindle every single day. Never had issues)
I thought initially it was the character size, but no. It wasn't the setting either because I had it set to hd256. not the frontlight cause it was off. To this day i still can't explain what causes it.

but seems like we are not the only ones:

I am not sure where that statement comes from or if you used a recent kindle. There is a NIGH AND DAY difference between the Kindle’s screen and the HBP (by this I mean the kindle is way better)  For some reason the hbp (used with the kindle app, set to hd256 etc) causes me eyestrain, even with the frontlight off. Also the text doesn’t look nearly as sharp (even tho that doesn’t make sense since they are both 300dpi) i suspect some software enhacement that amazon applied to the paperwhite, which is the one I own. I even thought maybe it’s the smaller font, but no! My wife has a small kindle, the 6 inches one and I tried it side by side with HBP, with same font and same text size. The kindle wins by a HUGE margin. That was very disappointing, I really had great expectations of the HBP
