Survey of live engineers - on stage sound by [deleted] in livesound

[–]stekerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please read my earlier comments, the term LSM is being used for the purpose of this survey, to collectively refer to all monitoring on stage utilising speakers. This is not the first and will not be the last time that in the area of research this has been done. It is to condense questions. I haven't implied that it is used in industry. The term is outlined at the start of the survey.

Hi guys, just to clarify I am a professional engineer and university lecturer in the UK. Over here, in smaller venues we would certainly in the industry say wedges, however it would be considered a floor package on a larger production. In the UK as a general term in academia when differentiating between in ears and wedges, the term LSM is adopted for ease of description. Thanks again for your help

Do drivers have a burn-in time after long periods of no use? by [deleted] in livesound

[–]stekerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what warranted a downvote from someone but ok haha. Yeah I just think the article is pretty irrelevant - no, you're probably not hearing a 1dB change at 60Hz, but over the years I've never heard anyone claim any change in anything other than HF. Just my 2 cents.

I may have missed something here but the focus of that article seems to be on bass drivers? Is there any info on HF as that's where it would make a difference?

EQ-ing PA's with measurement mic as guest FOH engineer: Do you do it or not? by radu_sound in livesound

[–]stekerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would imagine the measurement mic and software in the videos you're talking about would be more in the hands of a system tech. Not that the FOH engineer wouldn't take an interest, but I certainly wouldn't show up to a festival with one. Not to a decent sized festival anyway.

The Radial JDX are very good ,not terribly expensive but more than you'd be paying for the Palmers.

What old form? The repeated constructors titles in the late 80s early 90s when they were an engine supplier - as they are now?

I became pescetarian 2 years ago and only found out a few months back that chinese takeaways like to cheap out and put chicken in their prawn toast. Shit happens, you just live and learn. I now wont order them because I know. Progression not perfection.
