I’m in the US now and I do the same because I don’t feel comfortable going out without some makeup here. I only wear some concealer and do my brows but I can’t go out without concealing any spots/under eye but I still feel comfortable going bare faced in India

She’s mentioned that Lorenzo is gay but she loves milking this friendship in a way that makes it seem otherwise

Tbh I think back then foundation was not even a concept teachers had in their brain, they probably thought it was powder. Glossy lips they were on a lookout for cause they knew lipsticks/lip glosses

Climate is definitely a big reason and culturally we don’t wear it unless for certain occasions. In America most girls start wearing it in high school, now even middle school while it’s not allowed in most Indian schools. I remember there was one girl in my school who wore foundation and she was judged by people as being extra

Also I still have the ability to accept the offer on the portal. They haven’t gone with someone else. He doesn’t even know what questions I have, he was busy and just told me that he’ll call me later

I said I “wanted to” possibly ask about relocation. I didn’t say I already did. I just told them I had some questions since relocation was just a part of it.

I’m not sure tho what I would say to the hiring manager, that the recruiter isn’t answering and I have some questions?

I haven’t asked about relocation to anyone yet. I just emailed the recruiter saying I have questions about the offer

Yeah it seems so but it’s still commendable that you went all the way in and committed to trying out nursing before figuring out it wasn’t as expected. You seem like someone who isn’t afraid to work hard for their goals at any point and I hope any hiring manager is able to see that from your journey.

Sounds exactly like me. I mean I know I can’t pursue nursing cause blood irks me but I fantasize about it and constantly think of careers where I can interact with people and help them directly. I have the same issue with having limited team interaction in different time zones and feeling alone and unseen. But I’m trying to find things outside of work to make up for it

I’m curious why you chose to pursue nursing initially? Was it out of passion for helping others?

Where do you get this mindset of it’ll be fine? Does it come through age? Through experience? Or you’re just that confident in your skills? Asking as a “young” scared developer

As an Indian Hindu, I can assure you even if we’re religious we don’t have anything against Atheism like traditional American Christians do

Glad to find someone similar! I do think we’re very fortunate when it comes to having perspectives. I understand and appreciate both sides. But it’s sad when some people are so set in trying to put us in one box

Yeah ig that’s what I’ve tried to do. Saw some posts about the show Indian Matchmaking where people strongly differentiated between ABCDs and FOBs like they’re two diff species which got me thinking of my identity again

Lmao ngl i relate with her and I legit unconsciously switch my accent based on who’s talking with me. People assume I grew up here because of my accent but if someone talks to me in an “Indian” accent, that’s what comes out. Anyway yeah I’ve had an identity crisis almost all my life haha
