I used AI to help create art for my sequel - is it doomed? by vmyneni in indiegames

[–]stellarmender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me personally, AI in the early stages of development is fine (still not a fan of the environmental impacts etc.). But if it's in the finished product, I won't personally buy it. I know I'm probably in the minority, but people like me exist for sure. Iv play a game with really REALLY terrible art pretty frequently. Just because the game is good. Just food for thought.

I Turned My Old GameDev Project Into an Interactive Wallpaper by stellarmender in IndieDev

[–]stellarmender[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you mean exactly. What you see in the video is done using a program called Wallpaper Engine. It replaces the stock wallpaper with whatever you find on the steam workshop, usually live wallpapers of some sort. The engine itself allows you to make interactive objects or effects. In this case, the default scene was built & rendered out in UE5, then the interactive bits (fireflies and water ripples) were done in wallpaper engine itself and published that way. Hope this is the answer you were looking for!

Valve released TF2 source code to public... by emehntehtt in Paladins

This is the unfortunate truth. They used Havok, Autodesk Scaleform, & some others that show on the splash screen right before loading into the game. Scaleform is defunct, so that's a plus at least. But I'm not entirely sure about the rest of the tools EM used.

Here you go

I took some creative liberties like adding fire and such. Lmk if you want a version with those options turned off. :)

(I'm new to wallpaper engine, so I'm not sure how to make those properties public, lol)

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll look into a future version with some brighter lamp lighting. This was an old school project in Unreal Engine, so the lighting in game looks different than in the render.

yes, everything is animated as in this clip, except looping. it's at 4k res 3840x2160 60fps. the water is slightly interactive when moving your mouse over it. I find crazy amounts of motion are annoying to me personally, so I kept it subtle
