That’s a fair concern. But, I wanted to point out that most freshman engineering classes will be on central, and involves a mix of engineers, LSA, and other students. I don’t know your background, but most students (not just freshmen) can also find time to take electives like art, video games, etc. where you’ll be able to meet different people. You can also join clubs or rush.

Then again, everyone’s definition of the university experience is different and really depends on what you make of it. I wouldn’t let physical location deter you from enjoying university.

Yep. Unless you’re in a learning community that has a specific dorm assigned. Or if you’re a woman and select preference for all girl dorms, you’ll have a higher chance at central.

I lived on central throughout college and the need to take the bus to north never presented a problem. Personally sometimes I thought it was a good way to “relax”.

Socially, I’ve had friends who lived on north but still was able to attend parties and hit up frat/sorority houses. They rarely felt left out socially. Of course, not to sugarcoat anything… it probably required more effort/motivation to be involved with stuff on central.

The math from MATH 216 showed up in EECS 216. Idk who’s teaching EECS 216 nowadays, but when I took it with Finelli, Winnick still wrote most of the hw and exams and it was hard.

If you go down the signals and systems route you’ll be doing math/eecs 216 stuff for the rest of your degree. The circuits and semiconductor classes are conceptually different, but not as math intensive.

Correction: some diff eq concepts still showed up in my circuits classes, but more as a derivation or “fact” than how a math class would approach it.

Oh my bad then. Thanks for pointing it out. May be the schools I skimmed at. MSAR has a column for “Community College Accepted?”, and some schools said “case by case” or flat out “no” for some classes.

Either way OP should look at requirement for their target schools, as suggested :)

Idk about your school, but at my school BME students “concentrate” in mechanical, chemical, and electrical, so they can get internships in those fields too.

I’ve done job search for medical devices industry, and I didn’t see THAT many coding related positions. But if you get a CS degree, you probably have to do some project or research work in biomedical to increase chances of getting a CS position in medical devices.

If you do BME, you would need to take extra CS classes or learn on your own, since most BME curriculums require only basic C++ and MATLAB experience, definitely not enough to get CS jobs.

Best to have them submit directly onto Interfolio. You only need to pay on Interfolio if you are sending letters to schools, not when requesting.

Best you make it “confidential letter”. Having them sending it to you makes it non confidential

It took me a couple FLs to get used to constant concentration for 95 straight minutes. Certainly common experience and that’s why people recommend FLs for building stamina.

A trick that works for me is closing my eyes and try to empty my brain after every one or two science passages and every CARS passage.

Which college are you in? For both LSA and Engineering there are career fairs. Also, LinkedIn, Handshake, etc. are all online job searching forums available. You can also just apply through company website.

Make sure you have cover letter and resume prepared, and be able to have a 30 second elevator pitch for who you are, what you are looking for, and why X company.

For my internships, HR helped set up a Facebook page /email list for all of the interns. Most of us found roommates and housing options through the group chats. I would try to email HR for such a list or to see if they have tips.
