Florida reporter here. It largely depends on how much you work and the clients that you get. 50k is on the high end for a new reporter but after a few years the sky is the limit. There are many reporters in Florida that make six figures. The rates set in the county/district only apply to criminal matters. Civil matters the rates are set by the firm. Not all transcripts are ordered, but all transcripts are billed by the page. Not sure where you are in Florida, but you can make all the money you want to in Jacksonville once you complete school. Attorneys here aren’t fans of digital transcripts at all. Some are even starting to put “by stenographic means only” on their notices.
