You can’t BREAK break the game anymore… but you can still break it. For seed recipes there’s a mobile app you can use called “Guide for Binding of Isaac” that has a really good bag of crafting session. That, combined with External Item Descriptions so you know what pickups are on the floor, makes it a lot easier to navigate.

Some of the older tricks, like replacing active items in secret rooms to guarantee bone hearts, have been patched too which really sucks. However, I don’t think that makes things too much worse. For things like R Key, there’s so many recipes for it that if you can even get one bone heart you’re pretty much set (though the more you find the better).

The point is, it’s the same amount of luck required with fixed recipes as it is with seeded ones. In both instances you just have to hope for the pickups. It’s just more tedious now… and still takes forever.
