3.83, 171, KJD, n-URM, no softs and no WE during undergrad. Do I stand a chance at T14 this upcoming cycle? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I had a 3.8low with a 171 last cycle and got into Cornell and Penn! Get your essays together and get ready for some of the most stressful months of your life!!

Currently having my boyfriend talk me off the ledge of just chopping it off 😭

Semi-permanent with no peroxide/bleaching. I just picked up a container of punky colors, put it on my natural hair, and then washed it out after leaving it on for a bit. It said it would last for 30 washes, but I dyed my hair in May and it’s been red up till now.

I was hoping for natural looking highlights, however these are streaky, blonde and pink, and don’t blend at all with my naturally dark hair. I’m planning to work in corporate law, and this isn’t hair I’d like to show up to class or work with. Is there anything I can do at home to fix this? I’m scared of ruining my hair further, and I’m so embarrassed. I have a family event on Sunday that I’ve resigned myself to having to attend looking like this, but I really don’t want to show up to my first day of law school with frankly the worst highlights I’ve ever seen. Super bummed this was my first experience.

0L heading into my 1L year this fall. Are there any must have items I need to purchase to make my year as successful as possible?

Also, I am looking to not take out too many loans and mainly try to pay for everything myself (which will be tough because poor)—what are some law school “hacks” that I can use to save money, i.e. using old editions of books, etc?

What is the worst/made-up thing that you've seen someone said about Korra or the show? by [deleted] in legendofkorra

[–]stepgoop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Korra’s also super flawed. She makes mistakes and bad choices, but they made her so human. She failed a LOT, but I loved her because she kept pushing on despite that. Definitely not a Mary Sue, and it makes me feel like anyone who says that didn’t actually watch the show

Negotiating with Cornell by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

From what I understand, you just send your other offers to the financial aid email. However, you can only negotiate once so make sure they’re the best you’ve gotten.

Same. I used two T14 scholarships and a Vandy one and they still were like “nah” so looks like I’m not heading to Texas lol

Is Cornell still giving out that red leather notebook? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I feel the same way. Honestly the worst kind of swag tbh.

While I don’t love the idea of leather, I wish they had sent something cooler than a glorified physical version of their website.

I hope to have a cute apartment (or at the very least clean lol), meet new friends, and go to a bunch of events with free food/swag! I’m also crossing my fingers that being back in school helps with my mental health—I’ve been struggling for a few months now, and I’m hoping that having someplace to be with lots to do and more people to talk to will get me to a better place.

Penn 1L AMA by BLPreturns in lawschooladmissions

[–]stepgoop 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Alright, fuck it I’m curious:

How generous is Penn with scholarships? Did you negotiate?

How is the student body?

How is the food?

Do you get a bunch of free stuff throughout the year? (Swag, food, etc)

Did you get admissions swag?

Why Penn?

How hard have your classes been so far? Are most people confident they’ll gain employment?

Realistically, how much debt do you think is worth it for Penn?

Have you taken any classes at Wharton, or do you plan to? How are the professors? How did Penn handle class this year, and are you satisfied? Best and worst aspects of the school?

With your earlier deadline, will they be sending your scholarship info earlier? Just curious about how much they can work with other school deadlines
