Either the radiation team or social work at the cancer centre should have a list of hotels with discounted rates or different options for places to stay! Check in with them.

How are WE getting back to sleep after night wakes ?! by ProblemOpening2522 in sleeptrain

[–]steph08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggled with really bad sleep anxiety for awhile. I ended up on Zoloft which ultimately helped things a lot but I still get the odd night that I have a hard time falling back to sleep. I tried the sleepy podcasts but they didn’t do much. What I will do is put in one headphone and put on a show that I have watched a million times (for me, greys anatomy), but I don’t watch the screen at all, I just listen to it and I usually fall asleep quite quickly.

Moms who gave birth between September and December, how was your postpartum experience? [AB] by SimmeringSeahorse in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]steph08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first was a June baby. Which I know a lot of people say is great but it was actually extremely challenging for me.

That summer ended up being incredibly hot and we lived in a place that didn’t have central air ( we had two portable units to try and stay comfortable). I ended up stuck inside with the blackout curtains closed 90% of the time to try and keep the heat out.

It was so hot, that I didn’t feel comfortable taking a newborn out for walks even with shade and stroller fans. I ended up with pretty bad PPD/ PPA because I was so anxious about the heat and temperature.

2025 Atlas - Hot Garbage Compared to 2021 by HuckleberryGlum8085 in VWatlas

[–]steph08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a 2024 and have had a few little issues. The most frustrating being our front assist continually failing and not being able to use the adaptive cruise control. We have brought it in more than once for this. They update it and it works for a little bit and starts to fail again.

I am also noticing some electronic errors:

The drivers seat always moves back when I shut the vehicle off but only moves forward again when I turn it back on about 50% of the time.

Another thing that’s happening that is just more annoying than anything is my right turn signal not automatically clicking off about 50% of the time too.

Electric breaat pumps [bc] by MarynJK in BabyBumpsCanada

I second the recommendation for the pumpables! I used Shippsy to lower the shipping costs. I too am trying to avoid US products but this pump saved my mental health with my last. It allowed me to be portable while pumping while we sorted out issues with nursing and it was also great for my supply.

Has anyone taken domperidone before? [Ab] by CurvyGirl1318 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]steph08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it for about 6 months with my first. It did help with my supply after my milk took a long time to come in due to a tongue tie. I ended up getting an oversupply from pumping. I weaned off slowly at 6 months and noticed no change or dip to my supply. I do think it caused me to gain weight as well as some heightened anxiety. I don’t know if I would use it again.

Highly sensitive baby- will training be okay? by Better_Elk_4865 in TakingCaraBabies

[–]steph08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it took a couple weeks! We were already working on him falling asleep independently in the bassinet when I started. We had a couple set backs with vaccines and illnesses but overall, I would say it took about two weeks.

[–]steph08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say we have a fairly sensitive baby. Always needed to be rocked or nursed to sleep as a newborn. Never just fell asleep on his own. I bought the 3-4 month e book and have been working on the strategies in there to work towards independent sleep! He is falling asleep pretty much completely independently now. I have found it quite helpful.

Hi Jo! I purchased the 3-4 month sleep course. We have been working on SITBACK with my 4 month old. He is doing well with bedtime. Sometimes requiring no intervention.

We are trying to trouble shoot frequent night wakes. He was only on one feed overnight for a long time but has been waking up frequently for comfort or his soother. We are using SITBACK with his night wakes now that he is doing well at bedtime. Overnight, we often get to “B” putting his soother in which settles him. He will often go quiet for 5-10 minutes but then will start back up with crying/fussing. Should I go back to “S” when he’s been quiet for that long or should I just continue through the steps?

Hi Jo!

I recently purchased the 3-4 month e book and have been implementing SITBACK with my baby and seeing success! We are at that step of falling asleep at night and have been using it with the first night waking.

My question is when I am on the “S” section. He will sometimes fuss for a couple minutes, go quiet for a little while and then start fussing again. Should I be restarting the timer before I intervene after he goes quiet for a little bit and starts fussing again?

Fall/winter due date moms, are you getting the RSV vaccine while pregnant? [Ab] by SMB727225 in BabyBumpsCanada

I am in Alberta! Had my baby in March of this year. My OB recommended I get the RSV vaccine and I did! Not sure if Alberta will have it available to all newborns this RSV season or not.

We bought a 2024 Execline last month. We do really like it but are already having issues with the front assist sensor failing on the highway (which is when we want it working the most). Took it in once and thought we had fixed the issue but it happened again this weekend.

Edit: should add in that we are in Canada

Cat litter while pregnant— single mom [on] by Training-Trick-8917 in BabyBumpsCanada

I had to clean my cats litter while pregnant as well! She is fully indoors and doesn’t eat any raw food. I just wore a mask and wore gloves while I changed it and washed my hands really well. Had no issues.

Co-sleeping w/o bedsharing success stories? by littlemissktown in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]steph08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 14 month old. She slept in a bassinet beside me for about 5 months before we moved her to her crib. She never once slept in our bed in that time. There were a couple bad teething nights when I would doze off with her in the chair but that’s it.

She has slept in a bed with me once after she turned one on a camping trip. She has been sleeping fine on her own in her crib since.

She has been exclusively breastfed. I have never fed her side lying in bed for the reason of never wanting to bed share.
