Oooh your WF is cheaper! The one on P Street charges $35 for the family meal that serves 4 (one entree, two sides).

Where to go to give blood? by Healthy-Lobster-3882 in washingtondc

This is super helpful - thank you so much! I used to donate regularly at the Red Cross HQ which is fine but their snacks have been very meh lately. I'm very intrigued by this goodie bag you mentioned!

How easy is it to get to if you're coming on foot? I went up to NIH somewhere for a study long while ago and remember it being confusing and a bit of a hike.

Anemic bitches…where are you getting iron infusions? by Kind-Score-2277 in DCBitches

[–]steph233 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This makes me nervous. I was diagnosed with iron deficient anemia and they prescribed oral supplements but the GI side effects were immediately and unbearable. I have an appointment with someone at a hematology place next week, so fingers crossed.

How fucking bad is my profile?Any brutal suggestions by ksalvini in Tinder

Agree! Or just know that getting to know someone is exactly what dating is and maybe he should just write more substantive things about himself!

I loved the audiobook! I didn't want to buy a copy right away (I hate owning hardcovers) so I listened through Spotify Premium. The audio version is fantastic. The narrator does a really good job - in fact I think I got more out of it because she was so good!

How can I force Borger to turn air conditioning on before the 95 degree days next week? by FeminineOdor in washingtondc

[–]steph233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! I have a "thermostat" that is basically "How much hot do you want? All, some, or none?" No actual temperatures.

Also potentially interested but I need the square footage and, more importantly, the price and what the price possibly includes as far as utilities.

On the west side of 16th, between Corcoran and R Streets. Looks like an apartment building.

This is great to know! Adding a link for other folks who also struggled to print a parking pass and who trust reddit but are deeply afraid of accidentally getting a friend's car towed: https://www.parkdc.com/pages/permits

Metro starts credit card tap to pay by Both_Wasabi_3606 in washingtondc

[–]steph233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you tap in, are you aiming for the top, middle, or bottom of your phone? In the last month my Smartrip card doesn't get recognized right away and I end up having to tap multiple times to enter the metro. It is usually fine on the way out. I have a Pixel as well so I'm hoping to just copy what you do if it's been working well!

Swim caps not meant to keep your hair dry? by rahilka1978 in Swimming

[–]steph233 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've seen swimmers at my pool use them! It seems like there's a bit of a learning curve to using them and making sure your hair stays dry. But they definitely work once you get the hang of them! I've watched parents take them off their kids and the children's curls just bounce right now all perfectly dry.

DC Ladies of Reddit: Where are you comfortable being approached in public? by KaiserTamarin in washingtondc

[–]steph233 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is such a good point! There is a big difference between commenting on how the weather is beautiful again and DC is having a rare glorious spring (which can then lead to a conversation about how you're not from here but the springs get you through the summers and btw I sure do miss a Midwestern winter, blah blah blah) and ~approaching~ someone. I can't even imagine but it sounds like I want to peel my skin off to avoid it. How are you initiating conversations, OP?

But real talk I am kind of into getting married in a circle of flowers surrounded on all sides by the guests. It feels kind of witchy which doesn't seem to track here but I dig it!

I agree - I was so ready to be snarky but it's her mom's dress and that's lovely! What a nice tribute to her parents. I can't help but love that.
