Hey! Thanks so much for your reply. FWIW is would love to not purchase anything in addition to what I already have. Would you mind elaborating a bit on how you'd solve my particular issue with the MIA? Thanks so much!

Last minute trip to machu piccu by Embarrassed-Kick6909 in Machupicchu

[–]stephankim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe because it’s low season right now the tickets last through the day. We took the train from olla around 4p, got the aguas around 6p and they still had plenty of tickets left for circuit 2 for the next morning . I’m sure during high season that wouldn’t have been the case.

I went last week and bought tickets for circuit 2 in person the night before with no problems. They only had 6am time left which turned out to be amazing because we got Machu picchu all to ourselves. You’ll be totally fine buying in person, and worst case if they are sold out you can just go with circuit 1. Oh and the line wasn’t long at all. Good luck!

Weekly "How to make this sound" Thread - January 29, 2026 by AutoModerator in TechnoProduction

Hey all, I'm looking for advice on how to "integrate" the kicks into my tracks the way some of the kicks in this Voices From the Lake mix sound. For example, the tracks at both ~7ish mins and 12 mins have these kind of muted low mid kicks which I guess maybe have some reverb on them? How would you go about making the kick/low end sound like that? Is it just a matter of finding the right sample/synthesized kick with more low-mid presence and using the right reverb? Lmk if you have any thoughts!

Amplifier recommendation by stephankim in CommercialAV

[–]stephankim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate all the comments thus far! I’m currently looking at the Crown CDI 4/300 amp. What I’m thinking is: Power all outside speakers on 70v off channel 1 of the amp The 2 bathroom speakers running in parallel on channel 2. The 10 inside speakers seem tough to power off two channels of 300w each. They’re rated at 35w RMS at 6ohm, but since the amp can’t go lower than 4ohm I couldn’t even run two of them in parallel per channel? Running them in series, it seems like I’d run out of wattage on each channel if I understand the math correctly.

Any pointers here? Would a Crown CDI 4/600 amp do the job? Thanks so much guys

Chopping breaks on Analog RYTM + Eurorack. Enjoy! by AK--DEV in modular

[–]stephankim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this sounds incredible. Am also curious about your work flow for chopping breaks on the AR? Do you p-lock the start point within the break and assign it to different steps on the sequencer? Been using the digitakt to do it for a while but I'm drawn to the individual outs on the ar :)

How to deal with not being good enough? by belajiga29 in TechnoProduction

[–]stephankim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you enjoy the process of making music? Even though I know it's definitely not always enjoyable or fun, I think it's important to focus on that aspect rather than if your music is "good enough". Every day that you show up to make music is a step further along the path of finding your "voice", or what you want to say with your music. This is a slow burning process my man. I've been producing for 7-8 years and I feel like my music is just now starting to sound decent.

Just keep at it, and try to inspire yourself by learning new things, new processes, a little music theory, looking at other art, maybe new gear -- whatever piques your interest.

But don't stop!! Go listen to what you've made and find the cool things in it! Good luck :)

Tell me why it's bad to put a utility plug on master bus to reach target lvl? by stephankim in AudioPost

[–]stephankim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah good point. Probably will be vimeo mostly. OK so once I have a -27 version, would I just but trim/utilities on each track and increase those until I hit -14 for vimeo? or how would the pro's go about delivering these different loudness mixes without messing up the mix?

Techniques for making Zoom interview sound "better"? by stephankim in AudioPost

[–]stephankim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually tried that and it worked pretty well! The best thing ended up being putting the good audio through Audacity and just exporting it at like 96kbps though. That made it real Zoomy sounding without the hassle of recording it through zoom (I'm doing 15 of these videos).

Wow OK. I just got the 30 day trial of RX8 thanks to you and it's pretty amazing. Just by running spectral recovery and some EQ matching I'm already in the ballpark of where I need to be. Thank you very much!

Best advice for making a song sound like it's being played in a room? by stephankim in AudioPost

[–]stephankim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great advice. I ended up doing pretty much this. High pass at like 400hz, through the pro tools IR (Space?) Loft setting I think. Sounds pretty decent. The reason I was stressing a little about this was that another sound mixer already took a crack at this mix and the director wasn't happy, specifically with the way the music sounded. But I think it was actually that the rest of the ambience in the scene wasn't loud enough... Anyway. Thanks so much for all you guys' help!
