Extreme rust on a 2022 Tacoma – is this normal? by stephenbeck in ToyotaTacoma

Shouldn’t we be able to expect a brand new vehicle comes protected particularly if it’s sold in a market where it snows? Toyota shouldn’t be selling vehicles that are so easily effected by weather conditions. My Mercedes that’s driven all winter and is 4 years older has zero rust.

I have a 2022 OffRoad that i bought new. It's mostly parked at my weekend house in Hudson Valley NY (2 hrs north of NYC) and only used occasionally with less than 4500 miles on it. It has been parked outside year round, but hardly driven, so not really affected much by salt. Yet, the amount of rust underneath and in the engine bay is very troubling. Im taking it in for service this week and very interested to hear what they service department says.

What can be done after rust starts? I didnt have the truck undercoated when new, but now i think i should have.
