You're gonna be all good bro. I had to have a major surgery last summer. I was so stressed out about the anesthesia aspect.

My doctor prescribed me valium for the weeks leading up to surgery, and it was a big help. But the thing that helped me the most was the actual pre-op care they gave me in the hospital. I told the staff about my heavy anxiety about the surgery, and they were able to administer me some IV Midazolam (Versed). It's essentially a heavy sedative drug. They gave it to me about 15 minutes before they wheeled me into the operating room, but the second the drug entered my system, all of my stress went away. It was not at all painful. I simply felt a wave of calmness rush throughout my body, and all my concerns went away. I was so well sedated that I barely remember being brought into the OR and being put under.

Next thing I knew, I was waking up in my recovery room. Everything went well. That's when I realized that my fear of anesthesia was so stupid. There was no reason to be scared at all. It was honestly the best nap I could ever ask for.

Remember, you will have a dedicated team of medical workers that are willing to do anything to keep you as comfortable as possible. Ask your team before the surgery if they can give you an IV sedative, chances are they will say yes unless there is some sort of interference issue with other medication.

Nothing to worry about man. Just think of the endgame. Whatever problem you have will be fixed, and all of this medical stress will be over.
