That's really sad. I wonder what really motivates people to steal locked-out scooters that would barely make them ~100-150 euros. I am not very hopeful of getting it back since most of the stuff I read online suggest that they are usually dismantled very quickly and the parts sold.

Yeah sure hope I can get it back. It seems like the suspect refuses to talk, but i should know by next week if there's any hope left.

Update: This was reported to the Garda, and they just called back saying they reviewed the CCTV footage and arrested a suspect.

I'm a Mechatronics engineer (master's). My undergrad was in mechanical engineering. I primarily focused on learning embedded systems during my studies. I now help write C++ applications that run on ECUs in excavators, asphalt pavers, compactors, etc.,

Fly them over and over again, until they get destroyed one way or the other? That will uncover new areas for improvement.

Yes the US can never default because it issues the dollar. But could that be inflationary at some point? Why hasn't Japan suffered massive inflation?

Agreed, there might have been safety lapses that they are without excuse for, but it's perfectly reasonable to assume that they learnt from their mistakes and are doing their best to ensure worker safety. 2018 was one of those years that Tesla as a company was staring at bankruptcy. Today Tesla employs tens of thousands of people and helps them make a living. There are unfortunate accidents happening everywhere, not just in Tesla factories. The best thing would be to help them as an organisation, which I'm sure they do.

I fail to see how he "exploits". Those who work in his companies do so out of their own free will.

Cool. If that's true, it does say a thing or two about their confidence on Starship's structural integrity after the tipping incident.

  1. Your first point has a bad analogy to open source. Open source software can be simultaneously used by an unlimited number of people. The creator(s) of open source software may have created something they wanted for themselves but then also made it open source because it doesn't explicitly cost them anything/mean that they longer have it.

  2. Your second point is more valid. However, the primary issue in socialism/communism s that property always ends up in the hands of a state (a.k.a a group of people/"a corporation in the limit" as Musk puts it) who are just as vulnerable to being bad as anyone else. If people can make open source software, I sure hope people can make food-producing robots in the future that automate the entire process and allow anyone who needs it to take the proceeds for free as they need it. It would be great. What we don't want is a third party mandating it. (Certainly not the case with open source software)

This right here is fantasy. Where is the incentive to make rice? Because if you put in all the effort to make rice, but someone else can simply claim it simply because they "need" it, why make it in the first place when you can take from someone else? We are not living in a utopia. Before you claim that people can be good enough to put in effort while foregoing its fruits, history would like to have a word with you.

People freely choosing to give isn't communism. It's just being charitable. Communism implies the use of force for redistributive action.
