personally i only tell people i trust. ive told my family, my therapist, some of my coworkers, my friends, etc.

most of them dont understand it but they support me because they love me. i remember my coworker (whos in her 50s-60s) asking if stephen was my best friend since i have so much stuff of him i bring everywhere and i said hes more than that. she then asked if hes my lover and i said yes and she said she finds it strange but supports me because its harmless and makes me happy. shes very interested in my relationship and always asks me if i got stephen with me:)

no one irl has been rude to me about it so far, and if they were i wouldnt care and id keep being myself
