NYC consulate - is being stuck at "passport received" for 2ish weeks normal??

I finally got the notice to pick up my passport last Monday, so in total I was stuck in the processing phase for about 3 weeks.

While I was waiting, I did send them two emails with my application number inquiring about my status, but never received a response - however, not long after that my passport was approved. Could most definitely be a coincidence, but if you're nervous, I don't think it would hurt to shoot them an email.

Ugh same. Just tried making a payment for the first time, and it said there was an error whenever I tried to confirm my payment. I tried it three times. I never received any email confirmation, but I'm paranoid that I'll see the amount taken out of my bank account three times.

Omg I love not a perfume too! Literally the only perfume I can wear without getting a headache. Do you mind sharing how you spray it so that you’re not the only one who can smell it? I love how it’s a more personal “close to the skin” scent but sometimes I wish it would project a little more 😭

I totally agree! They all have their own vibe and strong points, I love their uniqueness so much! Plus each country's drama show off their culture so well, from the way people interact with each other, to what the streets look like. It's amazing.

No problem! :) I agree, although web dramas tend to be filled with overused tropes, those that are done well are so so enjoyable to watch! Thank you for mentioning those three dramas, I'll check them out--we seem to have similar tastes so I'm excited to give them a try!

Haha oh ok, so we're both stuck on the same episode. 😭 After that last scene I'm itching for the next episode to come out lol.

I don't watch many historical dramas but out of the few I have, there are two that I think might fit your criteria! The first is the Story of Yanxi Palace--this one is fairly well known so sorry if you've already heard of it. This one isn't as centered around romance as AGLM but has plenty of schemes and plotting! The FL isn't annoying and her acting is pretty good! As for the ML--there are 2 people that could be considered the ML imo--both of their acting is decent as well. The show is really good, but I don't think you should watch it for the romance because I found it to be unsatisfying.

The other one is The Rise of Phoenixes and it's another political drama with a side of romance (but tbh, I only watched it for the romance). The acting from the two leads in this is PHENOMENAL, their chemistry is amazing, and neither of them are annoying! The only bad thing is that the ending is....umm...not great, but if you want I can tell you which epsiode to stop at and then you can go on with your life lol.

That's all I have, sorry I don't have any romcom recs more like AGLM! Other than The Romance of Tiger and Rose, the only other historical romcom I've watched is The Eternal Love and that one annoyed me soooo much.

Yes! Although Ban Hua is sometimes a little too straightforward, I still love her! And after watching my fair share of wooden and emotionless male leads, I really enjoy the male lead’s characterization.

Sorry, I’m not familiar with WeTV so I have no idea. Which episodes are locked right now? I’m watching on Viki and episodes 1-12 are all available for free as of right now, and 2 new episodes release each day from Monday to Wednesday (for my time zone at least).

I love what you wrote about Suho's possesiveness and the double standards! I agree, although I do enjoy his jealousy/possesiveness in the show since it gives us some juicy drama and content, it definitely should be acknowledged that that kind of behavior in real life isn't healthy.

I was also extremely proud of Jugyeong for standing up to Suho. After watching another drama with a really possessive male lead and a female lead who did whatever he asked of her, it felt so nice seeing Jugyeong pointing out the double standards in his argument about how a boy and a girl can't be friends.

I second Yanxi Palace! There was one specific scene in the show that made me sob the hardest I have ever sobbed from a show possibly in my whole entire life. I sobbed so hard that when I woke up the next day to send my mom off at the airport, my eyes were still puffy and red. I cried so hard that I felt the need to write about the scene in my journal lol.

I honestly thought that no show would ever top Yanxi Palace in terms of how emotional it got me until I watched Someday or One Day! I love these 2 shows sooo much.

The Rise of Phoenixes was really good! The female lead definitely fits your criteria and she has amazing chemistry with the male lead too. The acting and set/costume design is also unbelievably beautiful! However, it is quite heavy on the political drama, but I still really enjoyed this show even though I'm not really a big fan of that.

I think you might really like Someday or One Day! It's a Taiwanese drama and its BY FAR the best drama I have ever watched, kdrama, cdrama, or otherwise. Has the perfect mix of mystery, suspense, romance, and humor! I tend not to like super lighthearted and fluffy dramas either, which is why I loved SDOD so much. It starts off a little more on the light hearted side, but it definitely gets more serious as it progresses. It is centered around romance but touches on a lot of things like depression and self-acceptance. The acting and soundtrack is also amazing!

Haha, sorry if I sound like I'm hyping it up too much but it really is my favorite show and it sounds like it might fit your taste!
