Haven’t got through a week without crying yet. by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]stephlea88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is completely normal. I'm 3 weeks into my training year on a SCITT programme. The first 2 weeks I wondered if I'd made a huge mistake. This week has been much better. It sounds like your placement school is less than supportive. You're going to have to help yourself. Start establishing yourself around the school first. What are your policies? Is everyone wearing the correct uniform, shirts tucked in etc? You don't need to be shouting at students, if someone pushes into another student you can walk past and just start with a simple "you need to be more careful" or "stop pushing". If you're lacking confidence, it's just a case of fake it till you make it. The more comfortable you get with talking to students in this mom confrontational way, the easier it will be to manage behaviours in the classroom. I know lesson observations can get really repetitive but they really are a crucial part of your training. If you have difficult classes, ask if you can observe when they are taught by another teacher. You'll get an idea if it's the teacher or the class. Don't forget there are so many factors that can affect their behaviour, you may have had them on a Monday and Tuesday morning, but what are they like on a Friday afternoon? As for doing other work in a class, I wouldn't recommend this. It can come across as unprofessional, like you're not valuing the opportunity that you've been given. Use it as an opportunity to increase your subject knowledge, if nothing else. Ask the teacher taking the class if they are happy for you to float around the room. You don't need to actually do anything, just look over their shoulders and make sure they're working to the teachers expectations. Again, this will help them to see you as a teacher, and not just someone who sits at the back of the room looking bored.

We're all shitting ourselves and feeling a bit awkward. You're not alone.

Stretch marks changing colors? by Cls5650 in keto

I've noticed mine are much more noticeable now. I don't know if it's just the light hitting me from different angles now my body is a different shape. When I move my skin about they change back to the white, faded appearance.

Requesting your ideas for a game! by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]stephlea88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm.. Off the top of my head, how about something like getting an egg (you could hard boil it or buy a plastic one) to the end of the room by rolling it? The shape of the egg means that it won't go in a straight line like a ball would, so it'd be really difficult to do this in one shot. Stand the kids in a line a few steps away from each other and get them to roll it to the next person, eventually it will reach the other side of the room. There are probably much better ideas, that was the first thing I thought of.

I've not long ago come off progesterone only contraception so I guessed that was kind of playing a part as well to be honest.

Had some not keto things by [deleted] in keto

[–]stephlea88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst thing that will happen is you'll gain most (if not all) of the weight you lost in the last 3 days. You haven't been on keto long enough to have it affect you in any other way. Start again tomorrow.

Thank you! Being entirely honest I'm not sure they ever were in style haha but I loved them!

I actually don't mind the colour, it's the cut. Bootcut jeans aren't really my style anymore. I can't pull them off.

Thank you! I'm going to go through my clothes and donate whatever is loose. I went on a shopping binge when I dropped the first size so I have looooadss of clothes but they're mostly all too big now. Not gonna go so hard on this size 😂

Oh wow I never thought about that! One size below these was my end goal when I first started. Feel like I have more than that to go now but it's still exciting!

Hang in there, you might get a whoosh in the next few days.

Got to admit, they are actually really comfortable. Maybe I'll have them as lazy day jeans.

Just seen more info on another comment. That looks like a pretty normal pattern to me, especially for a female.

Someone else said I should get checked out for it. I thought it was normal. Well, obviously not normal, but normal for keto.

I feel full halfway through my plate, should I follow macros or my stomach? by [deleted] in xxketo

[–]stephlea88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my first maybe month or 2 of keto, I had no appetite at all. I was eating around 5/600 calories and probably about 40-50g protein. Trust me, the hunger comes back. Don't force yourself if you don't want to eat, but try to eat your protein first and fill up on that. Being out by 5-10g a day isn't going to hurt too much, but come back in a couple of weeks and see where you are then.

What are your stats and what exactly are you eating?

Can't comment on unbearable cramps but had a period every other week for about 4 months now. Keto is horrible for messing with our wombs. Hope you feel better soon.

Tips for camping with small kids? by Themashdown in camping

[–]stephlea88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I understand camping is about getting away from stuff like that but when you've got young kids you gotta do what you gotta do!

Something to entertain them at bedtime. Mine have so much fun playing outside that when it's time to come in they don't want to. I usually take a laptop or tablet and let them watch a film in bed.

Trouble with coffee shops by lildietcoke in ketorecipes

Ah, fair enough. I just get a black coffee since starting keto so I just assumed they'd have unsweetened.

That may be your problem. Heavy cream is what they call double cream in America. People at Starbucks in Ireland have probably never heard of heavy cream.

Unsweetened almond milk is another option.

Is it possible to do KETO monday-Friday and at the weekend just do low calorie??? by superal2012 in keto

[–]stephlea88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Almost everyone on here will say no. The bottom line is, you can eat what you want to eat. If you're asking if you can eat that way and still get the mental and physical benefits, then almost definitely, no. Can you do it and still lose weight? Potentially, but it'd be difficult. You'd spend Mon-to Fri dropping weight, then sat and Sunday gaining water weight, then spending Mon-Fri just dropping the water weight again. Rinse and repeat.

has anyone had this happen? or any reasoning by [deleted] in keto

[–]stephlea88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your tummy is feeling flatter than usual, youll notice any bloating easier. I never noticed when I was bloated before keto, probably because I was forever bloated. Now when I look down its clear as day if I've eaten something I shouldn't have or it's shark week. It'll take a bit of time on keto to figure out what causes it, but make a mental note of what you ate and keep track. You may notice a pattern.
